Yeah i know it's into the second half already, but the All Star break always seems like the halfway point for me. Well In my mind our glorious Suns had a pretty damn good first half of the season. The team came off a really really slow start to kick large portions of ass, setting franchise win streak records twice. During this time our boys in purple and orange looked like friggen offensive (and too a lesser extent deffensive) gods on the court. Nash some how played better ball than the last two years he won the MVP. STAT showed that you can come back from serious knee surgery and own the paint. Marion looked like the defensive player of the year. Raja has been shooting out the lights from downtown. And LB looks like his on the very fringe of becoming a true All Star. Even Diaw who has been a lesser point maker so far, has learned to fit in very well with STAT back becoming an assist giving machin in the key.
Yet Dispite all this glory the Suns have taken a beating in injuries these past few games. Thomas has been out for a month now i think, and God knows we miss his defence. Bell went out for a couple games with a minor knee injury. Diaw most recently went out after pulling a muscle in his back. And most importantly Nash's shoulder has ailed him for the past 3 game. That last injury is very scary but i trust that by missing out on the All Star game that he should be fine. So with those injuries in mind the Suns have really been tested these last few games. The result being that we've lost 3home games in a row, not too hot. But the good news is that Banks is finally shaping up and James Jones is begining to look deadly from the bench as well.
So how will we look during the next half? Well if Nash comes back from the break with a happy shoulder then we'll play even better than before. Why you ask?? Well i'll tell you. These past couple weeks have seen some changes for the Suns. Our bench has seen more time and profited from it. Thus Marcus is actually looking worthy enough to go in for Nash and James Jones looks like he'll be adding an extra 10+ off the bench as well. Not to mention that with Kurt Thomas out STAT has had to step up his game, especially in these games without Nash. And what has come of it? From what i read (i'm studying abroad in Germany) he's been a beast the last few games (disregard last nights "ok" shooting, Suns barely shot 40% as a whole). Plus one must realise that Kurt will be returning, and his defence and excellent jump shot will also add more muscle to the bench But overall i see this team coming off the break with a deeper bench and a more battle hardened interior. Look out NBA the Suns will have some fun these comming weeks.
