Game Thread: Phoenix Suns vs Utah Jazz

The Suns head into Salt Lake City today to try and beat the Jazz for the first time this season.  Can they do it?  Will this be the "one loss" they can have without falling to the third seed in the Western Conference?

More thoughts on the game after it's over.

... Please put the Jazz out of their misery
I'm a Suns fan of 18 years, now living in Salt Lake and very much looking forward to our guys stomping all over the Jazz in about 30 minutes.

Deron Williams is the future "Jason Kidd" of the NBA and 2nd in the NBA in Assists (behind the Nashinator of course).  We've got to shut this guy down and keep his scoring to a minimum. If he can't get his team involved, he'll start taking over all by himself.

Keep Okur off the 3 point line, PLEASE!

And do our best to out rebound Boozer and Millsap and the rest of the Jazzercise.

I think we'll be in trouble if the 3 point shots aren't falling tonight.  The Jazz have plenty of big bodies and shot blockers to clog up the lane a bit.

It's been a clinic, so far
Travis, nice to have a Suns fan in Utah.

The Suns are hot in Utah.... at least in the first half. Let us hope they put Utah away early and get some rest for the starters.

.... " A Clinic"
It's half time and even the Jazz announcers are calling this a clinic and saying "wow" after every other Suns possession.

It's like the Jazz didn't even show up tonight and Sloan's had to put most of his young bench in just to keep up.

Way to crush em Suns!  Hopefully they won't slow it down the rest of the way.

Hey Travis,
Suns fan in Dallas here, nice comments. I just got caught up on the game, wow 114-88. Go Suns, nice to have this one considering how well the Jazz have played against us this year. Let's see, just Houston on Monday and Toronto on Tuesday left. Both good teams but not in that top four team ranking in my view.

Suns / Mavs / Spurs / Pistons in no particular order
after the Suns!! Was reading up on espn, they think Marion is number 3 for defensive player of the year, and that Bowen of Spurs should win it. My vote, Marion!!

Clippers
The Suns play Clippers on Tues. If the Suns lose to Houston on Mon. this could be a do or die game for both teams. I hope the Suns can clinch the #2 seed before Tues. and allow the starters some rest and relaxation before the playoffs begin.

I was late too
I had a late afternoon meeting run WAY overtime, and just got home to find the Suns up by 29 and the fitness club has taken over. I gather this game is an "A" performance by the Suns, but now I have to back up the DVR and watch it to find out why.  :)

Hey Texsun

Jason from Dallas here. I'm guessing you tape and watch all of the Suns games. Is this thru a paid for
cable basketball thing, or something else? I just paid $20 and listened to them thru nba.com all year.
Plus snuck in games while in Phoenix for work. I'm thinking of nba paid for online game viewing or buying a sling box. I've heard the sling box is a device that (my parents in phx for example) can stream any cable tv program to any location of any pc online. After you pay the $200 or so for the sling box, it's just at a cost of cable subscription. How much does it cost for what you use, I'm already thinking the playoffs should be so well covered I should see every game, but want to see all games next year!!

Thanks

I subscribe
I treated myself to league pass a while back so I could get all of the Suns' games, as well as a couple of other out-of-area teams I like to watch. It's expensive, but the "legal" way to get games for teams that aren't in your local viewing area. And getting to see games like that 2OT classic against NJ in December (still likely my favorite NBA game ever) make it worth the expense.

And yes, I DVR games when I know there's a chance I might miss them, just like I do anything else I watch on TV. I don't always go back and watch if I read that the game was a really bad one, but I like to have them just in case so I don't miss anything good (after all, you never know when a game will end up being a classic).

Please ignore any of my previous keys to the game!
The Jazz players should have bought tickets and just taken their seats in the stands with everybody else who was watching this "game".  They were absolutely blown out.  Suns were up by about 8 within the first three minutes!

... and yes, this was the same Jazz team that just pounced on the Mavs last night by 15 points IN DALLAS!  Sure, Stackhouse and Terry didn't play and maybe there was some lack of motivation... but that's gotta take something away from Dirk in my opinion.

marion
One last comment on Marion, it's obvious that the Suns are a run and gun team, and there are other teams in the past that have this style. Maybe the showtime lakers, dallas of the past, etc. But on a team that runs well, Marion runs in another class above them. I like to think of the Suns as Gazelles that just run along at 50-60 mph, but Marion is the top gazelle for endurance, no question. I have a friend who has a relative that works for the suns, one of the trainers, and he says Marion is simply amazing as far as stamina and speed. It's not a stat, but if it were, it'd put him ahead of all others like Steve Nash's assist and vision have done for him. But how do you measure speed and endurance,
makes me think of barbosa, but his speed is start and stop speed, i think marion is just a pure racehorse, i remember a game i went to with my wife's father, I bought thru ticket exchange and and got front row center court seats, (last season) and we lost, but the way the suns ran, we had a great time watching!!!
