NBA Ref Being Investigated for Gambling

[I guess it's just a bad news day all around. USMCGUNZ also posted a diary on this with a different article that gives some more information. I have some thoughts too, but sadly, no time to share them today. Thanks, ASUMike and USMCGUNZ for giving us the details! -TexSUN]

According to ESPN.com, the FBI has spent the last two years investigating an NBA referee who has allegedly bet on games, and made calls to assist the point spread.

This is absolutely terrible for the NBA, and for every fan that hasn't won a Championship over the last two years. I can't stop thinking about the possibility that this call here, that call there, kept the Suns from defeating the Spurs.

The possibility that referees have been throwing games is now going to come up in the back of fans minds everywhere.

I am sad as a Suns fan, sad as a sports fan, and sad as a human being. Hopefully this can get resolved.

This is really scary
I sure hope it isn't a ref that did any Suns games in the playoffs.

he was the offical
in the game 3 loss to SA, and the game 4 victory against LA

Beat me to it

I sure hope there's nothing to the connection beyond coincidence.

I believe....even if there was...
nothing could be done about it.  Stern wouldn't do anything to the Spurs anyways....he has already proved that.

Definitely agree with ya
It doesn't really matter in terms of consequences for the Suns. It's just always going to make we wonder if there was something fishy going on in that game 3.

I think I still have Game 3
downloaded from NBA.com...

It may be worth a good going over call by call

Its a time consuming process though and I don't know if I have the sufficient level of bitterness needed to invest that kind of my weekend in the effort...I would certainly LOVE to read that kind of analysis though...

That was a painful game
that you'd have to pay me to watch again. Game 4 would be a little easier to swallow :-)

Game 4 hurts me...
...because they were so happy to have won. I re-watched part of it a little bit ago, and at the end of the game Nash was giving an interview. At some point during the interview Amare walks by and excitedly grabs Nash's shoulders. It gave me a pang remembering how exciting it was to win that game only to have that dashed before the next one even started.
