Around SBN: Chan Sung Jung Wins Thriller Over Dustin Poirier

Our First Quote has Arrived!

One of the suggestions I received in the Suggestions Box post was to add some quotes from the players and coaches. Well, while I can't say I'm thrilled with this guy's interpretation of that Nash interview with LZ Granderson that was posted on ESPN.com a few days ago (clearly he's not a Suns fan), it has yielded our first quote for the site. I meant to add this after listening to the original interview, but got busy and forgot. Anyway, in case you missed it, the quote now appears at the top of the screen just under the "Commentary and Discussion..." section. Should be the first of many to come.

Biggest Douche in the Universe
That guy is a known twizzle stick.  I forget who it's with, but he has a running battle with another blogger.  I saw it months ago.  All he did was do a half-assed rewrite of the original article.  He's trying to analyze Nash's statements out of context?  Crazy bastard.

I think Nash is getting to the point where he's living in an ever-present now, so the window is always going to be "this year".  If there's anything to take from Steve's comment about his health, it's that he is simply trying to convey a sense of urgency that our team so desperately needs.

Yes, I am the smartest pesron in the room.

Basketbawful...
...the other blogger he has a running feud with is the guy from Basketbawful.

Exactly.
But I still like the quote from Nash, even if I didn't like the article.

Nice quote
I think it's just perfect to have a quote by Steve Nash guide us into the new season.

Closed?
The Window is already closed and was hammered shut by Sarver.

Even if that were true
It doesn't mean our guys won't find some way to pry it open again and squeeze through anyway. See 2005-06 team that darn near did just that--without Amare.

New Font
Could you put the quote in a bigger or different font?  It's pretty hidden and I didn't notice until I read your post.

How's that?
Too painful on the eyes?

Better
How about putting it above the "Unofficial Blog ..." disclaimer?

It's just not quite right.

Mmmmm ... Guinness

Actually...
I need to find out why that disclaimer is there to begin with. Most of the other SBN NBA sites don't even have that. I wonder if it was something that just came enabled by default, and was never changed/removed. Would it look more "right" if I got rid of the two lines of disclaimer, and just had the quote there by itself?

by TexSUN on Aug 3, 2007 10:43 AM MST up reply actions

Disclaimer
I don't know about getting rid of it or not (maybe there's a reason), but the quote is just kind of squished below it and above the bar.  It's not a good place for the quote like that.

The other place for it would be above either of the sidebars.  Just something a little more pronounced.

What about the music?

Mmmmm ... Guinness

How about where Blog-A-Bull
...has their Henry Abbott quote? Although that would move the menu down some, as well as the "recent diary" list which I'm hesitant to do.

I'm still mulling over the music idea. I'm not wild about having it auto-enabled by default, because people visit this site from open cubicles at work, and I wouldn't want to get anyone in trouble with their boss. Plus, some people (me included) just find it annoying when music starts playing out of the blue when they load a site. Also I'd have to check with the SBN guys to see if it's technically possible in the first place (I don't have access to the full source code for the site, just the interface they give us to add content). Not saying "no", just that I haven't had a chance to fully research it yet.

Maybe you could have
music files in one of the sidebars, that visitors can play at their own discretion.

Ok, how's that?
I tried moving the quote over the sidebar where Blog-a-Bull has theirs. Do ya'll like that better, or should I put it back under the title where I had it?
