Rudy Fernandez

Hi there,

There has been a lot of talk about San Antonio not getting much for Luis Scola. But what about Rudy ?

As a folower of la liga ACB I've had the oportunity to see him win games, change games, decide games.

What exactly did we get for the best SG in Europe right now ?

85 % from the line, 56 % for 2's and 38% from the 3.

Why ? Why ?

Depends on the way you look at it
In Scola case, other teams can always argue that he was a second round pick (despite being arguably europe best player, is not like the Spurs are smart, they are just drafting MVPs on europe all the time, Ginobili is a former MVP as well. Are the other teams blind?) and he also said there´s was no way he would come for less than something like 5 million guaranteed. He gave leverage for other teams. The spurs didnt want to pay the luxury tax. Than there you go. He was given for free for a division contender. He´s also not that great of a defender.

Scola and the Spurs
I made kind of a big deal about Scola and the Spurs for two reason: (1) it shows that the Suns aren't the only team with one eye on the pocketbook and (2) it's possible that the Spurs were ok with basically giving Scola away because they now have Splitter. I'd love to have had Splitter on the Suns, but since that didn't happen, then maybe him going to the Spurs is somewhat mitigated by the fact that now the Spurs won't have Scola. I'm not hugely familiar with either player, but it seemed from watching the tournament that Scola might be more ready to come in and make a big impact on a team like the Spurs right away than Splitter would be. So we may have kind of dodged a bullet there, at least in the short term. Look out for the Rockets, though--with Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady already there, a coach that believes in offense coming on board, and now Scola added too, I think our days of marking Houston down as an easy out are over as long as they all stay healthy.

Oh
Who needs ANYONE when they have Sean Marks? Why the hell the Suns didn't sign RF and didn't punt Marcus Banks is truly beyond me.

Punting requires a receiver
For the Suns to "punt" Marcus Banks, they'd need another team to take him. Can't trade somebody if there aren't any takers.

Yeah, guess you are right
But somehow keeping Rudy Fernandez instead of Banks would be sweet.

Btw
Rudy Fernandez just scored 20 points right now. 20 points in a 76 to 58 win. Yeah. That's mean, man. That's mean!

Spain-Greece
That's just what I was about to say:

3/3 on 2's, 3/6 on 3's, 5/6 on FT, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 block and 2 PF in 24 minutes...

Against Greece, ya'll remember Greece right ? Last world championships...

Anyways, at least everyone that cares about the suns seems to think the same. Than I really don't get it, what a better way to save cash than sign this guy, and just buy out that point guard wannabe. Yes D'Antoni...you know who we are talking about

I couldn't agree more
Fernandez would make the possibly best team in the league even better! I can only hope Alando does a nice work, but I don't think he could add more than RF.
