Basketball Under the Stars

Basketball_20court_medium

The Suns third preseason game Saturday against the Nuggets will be a historic open air event played at the Indian Wells Tennis Center about half way between LA and Phoenix.

Myself along with BSoS blogger Mike Lisboa will be meeting up with BJD's Mark McLane to make sure this game is thoroughly covered from blogger eye level.

We will also find out what happens when you put three bloggers together in the middle of the desert on a Saturday evening near an Indian casino...

I don't expect the outdoors to impact the game all that much. Certainly nothing like when the Sabre's played hockey in the snow. The weather looks to be about 55 and breezy at tip off. Sounds perfect to me.

Here's what the Suns are saying about the game (hint - not much):

Yawn.....

meh dont really care that the game will be outdoors. I’m just glad that it will be on TV. Really hoping to see Lopez find himself and grab some boards. It seems like with some good practice that this kid can be made into something solid, he just needs to work on grabing some boards.

The SoCalSun clan will be in full effect

I’ll be making the fairly short drive from Irvine; this will be my kids first professional sporting event. I’m sure we’ll be exploiting the Jam Van area. I haven’t seen the Suns live since a Clipper game at Staples back in 2000, can’t wait!

More SoCal

Myself and a fellow Suns fan are making the trek out too.

He’s currently working on a goofy sign. So if TNT pans over to a sign that says something like “Make HUGS, not NUGGS” it’s us.

Have Fun!

I’m sure I’ll be cheering on our Suns from the comfort of Pat Murphy’s or Papago Brewing Co., while you guys enjoy the live action. Since it’s preseason though I cant say that I will be too jealous.

Just be sure you have your craziest Suns gear on. I’m talking huge flowing purple and orange cape, insane Suns themed hat and so on.
