Amare Stoudemire MVP Watch - Day 2
Premature to call Amare a lock for the MVP lead after one game?
Maybe.
But 22 points on 72% shooting, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block and 1 steal looks pretty darn MVP-like to me. And let's not forget the all important clutchiness of making big shots when it matters most. Oh, and only 2 fouls as well.
It is undeniable.
Amare Stoudemire is the leader in the MVP race two days into the 08-09 season.
Being Dunked On
MVP! MVP! MVP!

Yes Sir!
Amare has the skills and certainly the talent to be the MVP.
I saw great things from him last night:
1. No foul trouble
2. Going for rebounds and blocking out players
3 Pick and roll continues to be lethal.
4. Good shots from the perimeter
5. The usual And-1 baskets
And how to forget the awesome dunk…
Let’s pray he stays healthy.

I dunno...
Chris Paul looked pretty good last night too.
Aw, what the hell. Amare’s in the lead. He’s got the dunk of the year thus far, for all that’s worth.

Bad joke
this was meant to poking fun at the various MVP / ROY , etc rankings that seem to start earlier and earlier each year…
I was trying to beat the rush :)

The MVP talk
is way premature, he was a big part of the reason Duncan pwned us last night. The man simply does not try on defense for more than 3 minutes at a time.

You should try watching the game
Instead of talking out of your ass.
Amare has been the most driven player in both games, hustling for offensive rebounds, fronting Duncan, and staying in front of West. He may have gotten beat a few times, but he also stayed on the floor for 39 and 43 minutes against two of the best “forwards” in the league, something he didn’t do at all last year.
Besides, we know the MVP has nothing to do with defense. Steve and Dirk can’t play it, and Kobe only plays D the last 5 minutes of any given close game. If Amare really wants to win an MVP he should pad his stats in blow out games and give himself a dog nickname, a la “The Doberman”. Hows about “The Australian Silky”? Because he’s so smooth Down Under the basket. (I realize this nickname might be better suited for gay porn, but what good nickname isn’t?)

Lol. The Australian Silky.....That's freaking hilarious!!!
It would be nice if Amare polished his post-game. He doesn’t have a legitimate hook shot, and he shoots face-up jumpers much better than turnaround jumpers, which is interestingly very rare for a big man. Still, offensively, he is the most lethal man to play PF in quite a long time. Guys like Duncan and Dirk are often dominant, but have relatively easy solutions to holding them down in comparison to STAT, whom I just can’t envision anyone locking down in single coverage. His improving defense may yet propel him to the status of elite superstar, ie top 5 in the league. I am optimistic.
