When was the last time you were excited to see the Grizzlies on the other side of the floor? Let me think....
...nope. I couldn't come up with anything either. At least since the Grizz were last in the playoff's in 04. But quite honestly there weren't exactly interesting then. Just kind of good.
That makes this game a(n) HISTORIC EVENT!
Da Bears are coming to town with a pack of young cubs including three rookie starters (Gasol, Arthur and Mayo) along with young up-and-comers Rudy Gay and Mike Conley.
This all leads to yet another game for the Suns against a younger team (I am sensing a trend here) with dynamic wing players and not much in the way of front court threats.
The difference from the last two games is that Iveroni isn't going to want to muck the game up by putting Amare on the line 56 times. That means that Amare might just score 73 points.
Good thing that Matt Barnes is back. He and Grant will have their hands full with Mr. Gay and they will likely be needed to help carry the 2nd unit to prevent a Dragic beat down at the hands of Lowry, Conley and/or Crittenton.
Should be a fun game.

Well...
We’ve won eight straight against Memphis. Couldn’t hurt to make it nine.
Rudy was 4-17 from the field last night. A repeat performance there couldn’t hurt either. Raja might have his hands full with O.J.

Score one for the Blogs
Blazers Edge has been on a campaign to get Terry Porter’s jersey retired by the Blazers.
Looks like they are getting close!

Memories
Sweeping them in the playoffs was nice back in 2005.

was watching on direct tv but with bad weather...
nice to see dragic hit a few shots, he’s not had a good start this yr, I love Nash, but it feels like he makes 3-5 turnovers a game!

Kind of ugly half
Both teams had a ton of turn overs. The Grizz are a MUCH improved defensive team and if Gay is hitting like he seems to be again against the Suns then these guys can play.
The good news is that the Suns really didn’t play all that well. 2 FT’s? Amare with only 8pts and no trips to the line. And no goggles for some reason??
Good to see LB and Dragic score a few points.

Well
it wasn’t pretty, and it was scary down the stretch (Mayo just went crazy in the 4th there), but a win’s a win.

You hear the one about the old bull and the young bull?
The two bulls are on the hill and beneath in the field are a herd of attractive young cows. The young bull turns and says “let’s run down and get us one of those cows”. The old bull says “no son, lets walk down and get them all”.
That’s what this game was all about. The old bulls found a way to win the close game while the young bulls ran around and had their shot.
Give the Grizz credit. Defensively, they played the Suns bigs as well as anyone. They did a great job disrupting the entry pass and Marc played tough inside. They were long and active in the paint and gave Amare as much trouble as any team so far this season.
In the end Mayo was awesome but the old bulls got it done.

i like the analogy…and, while i’m a bit disappointed with the overall play (and the fact that it was a nail biter with the grizzlies…not to take any credit away from them), we did come away with a win.
i like seeing dragic becoming seemingly more and more confident with the ball as each game progresses. i’d like to see a little more production out of lopez, though.
and, o.j. mayo is looking very nice over the past few games. if rose isn’t careful and/or oden doesn’t come back and impress the way we all (at least i) think he will, mayo may just be a very, very strong candidate for rookie of the year. beasley is also looking good as of late.

well the grizzlies are better this year
so I don’t think that is such a big problem… and hellyeah 27 points in 22 minutes from barbosa? awesome. I’m really starting to believe in this whole thing installed by that sucKerr, but I’ll try not to get carried away…
Once upon a time the Suns got out on the break... and along came Steve sucKerr
