Barnes and Nash Suspended

Reports are that Barnes and Nash have been suspended by the league. Barnes is out 2 games while Nash is out one.

With Barbosa gone because of the passing of his mother and Nash and Barnes suspended, the Suns are going to be extremely short handed.

Dragic is going to have to show some real toughness tonight because he is going to be the main point guard.

Here's the story

Wow, if true, that's more than Cheap Shot Rob got.

Here's my take on this lifted from the Kings game preview (no, that's not me being lazy - that efficient):

  • As for the suspensions, this seems harsh. No punches were thrown. I can see one game each for Barnes and Rafer. Or even two games for Barnes and one for Rafer but I don't think Nash should have been suspended.
  • I've thought for awhile now that the league has gone too far in "cleaning up the game". These things are to be expected and my gut reaction is that lawyers and marketing types in NYC are thinking more about the corporate sponsors and rich season ticket holders then about the players and the "normal" fan. That's a topic for another time though.

Unreal

I can’t say I disagree with the Barnes/Alston suspensions but Nash? He gets suspended for running, tripping, and getting shoved down? Please.

It's Ba-Nash. It's a no brainer.

Ridiculous

How is what Nash did any worse than what Cassell, KG, or Zaza did last year in the playoffs?

Cheap Shot Rob got two games.

I just saw the replay for the first time. I’d say that Barnes cheap shot was probably LESS of a baskeball play than Horry’s.

I was surprised Horry got suspended for two games and I am really surprised Barnes got suspended for two games unless he did something after the initial shot at Alston. Neither Barnes shot at Alston or Horry’s shot at Nash was as bad as Baron Davis’ blind-side forearm to Derek Fisher’s head in the Jazz-Warriors series of ‘07. (same round as Suns-Spurs) which didn’t result in any suspension.

On the other hand, Horry’s suspension was 1-game for hitting Nash and 1-game for putting his forearm in Raja’s face.

Just for the record, I know Horry’s foul is a sensitive topic around here. I’m not trying to taunt or start some argument about Horry’s foul. I’m just stating my opinion as it relates to this altercation and Barnes’ action.

And I just re-watched it and HAVE NO CLUE why Nash was suspended.

See, that's the problem.

I think the issue we have is less about Barnes getting two (which is even with Alston, so hard to complain too much about) and more about Nash getting any. It just doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.

Cheap Shot

The only reason Bob got two games was a pathetic attempt at making the Suns’ fans less pissed-off that Amare and Boris got one game suspensions. The totality of Cheap Shot Bob’s antics deserved a one game suspension.

Not saying Nash deserves suspension...

but it looked like the Rocket players were going after Alston to calm him down until Nash came running in the middle trying to grab Alston. That may be where the suspension idea came from.
Nash probably could not tell that from where he was running from but things may have blown over quicker without him running into the middle of everything.
