Official Suns Game Notes

Ready. Set. Discuss.

(I'll be back later with some thoughts other then Rasheed Wallace has owned Amare in the past which won't fly tonight. Steve "Bruce Banner" Nash needs to hulk it up tonight and prove why he's still relevant. Shaq might have nothing left for this game but fortunately my favorite Laker Kwame Brown is the opposing center. And the Suns penetration denial 2-3 zone and non-trapping big man MUST make AI a jump shooter and hope that he's not hot.)

Well...

not sure how this game is going to turn out, but I’m not too confident that it will be good.

We just havent had a good showing against a good team yet this year and there are just too many things on the offensive end that need to be ironed out.

Hopefully it will be more entertaining and less frustrating than the Hornets, Chicago and Houston matchup

This will be a test.

This will be a test. We are off to a good start sure, but the Pistons are always tough. Hope the Suns come out on top, but a team with Sheed, Prince, Hamilton, and now AI isn’t exactly a sucky one and I won’t hold my breath on how this turns out. Still as a Suns fan I say GO SUNS!

Nash and Tonight's Game

I think we will see a huge game tonight from Nash. Based on how pissed he was at the suspensions and the extra days of rest, I’m looking for his best game of the season.

I’d like Shaq to have a stellar game again but I’m also thinking that Amare will come up big tonight with the attention the Pistons will give Shaq. Let’s hope Amare rides his OT performance into tonight.

Nash and Amare will have huge games and lead us to victory.

It's Ba-Nash. It's a no brainer.

Nash

So far so good, Amare needs to step up this 2nd half.

It's Ba-Nash. It's a no brainer.

Welp.

Not a bad first quarter. Suns up eight.

Very good one actually

Good balance in the scoring…good D!

Nice

Amare is back. KWAME! with two fouls. Amir Johnson is without a chance.

And Dragic looked very solid. Much more confident. Even one the play when Stuckey blew past him when he turned his head he picked up a smart non-shooting foul to protest his big man.

And folks. How about Steve Nash and his inability to play defense? Did you see how quick he moved his feet to get in front of AI and take that charge!

Oh, and Grant doesn’t look bad now does he.

Great start other then Shaq.

Flagrant 2

Shaq’s out of the game.

by TwinnerA on Nov 16, 2008 7:02 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Stuckey was going unimpeded to the basket and Shaq came flying in and dropped him to the ground face down.

by TwinnerA on Nov 16, 2008 7:10 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Shaq did not go up in the air but just put 2 hands on the ball and Stuckey was up in the air and he landed awkwardly.

by TwinnerA on Nov 16, 2008 7:19 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Bad call

I didn’t think he deserved the ejection. He was going for the ball. No intent. No head hunting.

I am hoping the league will reverse that one at least.

by Phoenix Stan on Nov 16, 2008 7:21 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Agree

If that was Hill, Bell, Nash, anyone else he wouldn’t of hit remotely close to that hard – Shaq’s just a big dude.

It's Ba-Nash. It's a no brainer.

hmm..

it’ll be interesting to hear what he was yelling at porter.

by brian13 on Nov 16, 2008 7:03 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

he was pissed

Shoved Nash’s arm aside aswell as Porters…

by PanamaSun on Nov 16, 2008 7:14 PM MST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Oh hell yes!

Great work boys. 61 against the Pistons. I loved what Robin brought right off the bench and I am LOVING this line up

Amare, Lopez, Diaw, Hill and Nash! They can’t cover Diaw with a 3 and he made them pay.

Prince is doing great work on Amare though denying him the ball. The Suns O has worked on getting Shaq the ball low in the post. They need to work on getting it to Amare in different circumstances.

Love the energy and effort most of all. Nash is pissed! and he’s showing it w/ two late in the quarter 3’s!

I was really really worried about this game w/ all the minutes Shaq played and missing 3 wing players.

Great character game so far but its long from over. The Pistons have come back on us before.

by Phoenix Stan on Nov 16, 2008 7:17 PM MST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Shaq MVP

and yes – there’s really no doubt that Shaq is the Suns MVP through the first 10 games.

Running

Will be interesting to see if our running increases in the 2nd half…

It's Ba-Nash. It's a no brainer.

by Suns Ben on Nov 16, 2008 7:18 PM MST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Shaq

Does a flagrant 2 call for a suspension of one game. I think I’d rather he miss the Utah game than the Laker game.

by TwinnerA on Nov 16, 2008 7:21 PM MST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I don't think so

I think its like getting two T’s in a game. It shouldn’t carry over but I do believe the league automatically reviews them and could issue a suspension. I have to think in this case though they won’t and might even drop it down to a Flagrant 1

by Phoenix Stan on Nov 16, 2008 7:27 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Lopez/P&R

Panama Sun…speaking of our points about big guys who can move their feet off a p&r…how bout that Lopez?! That steal of AI was some of the best D off a p&r I’ve seen in a while.

It's Ba-Nash. It's a no brainer.

They smoothered him

on the baseline and RoFro just ripped the ball away!

The defense has been great so far. The team is playing with a ton of fire even before Shaq got the boot and more since.

by Phoenix Stan on Nov 16, 2008 7:30 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Still confused

by the Dragic / Singletary thing and then Lopez not getting minutes until get gets the boot.

I thought Goran looked pretty good. He must not be doing something that Porter wants him to do and Sean plays with a LOT of confidence. Perhaps they thought Sean was a better matchup against AI while Dragic is better against Stuckey b/c of his size. I don’t know.

Love seeing Robin come in though and play great D. And he got jobbed yet again on a call with the drive down the lane. I tell you – he’s got more offense then people think. I saw him in Vegas face up from the FT line and drive the lane spin 360 around his guy and dunk the ball.

by Phoenix Stan on Nov 16, 2008 7:26 PM MST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Couldn't agree more

Agree both about the 3 pg rotation and Lopez.

Man, Amare has a good shooting stroke. I think back often to his first year or two and how much it’s improved.

It's Ba-Nash. It's a no brainer.

I’m loving Lopez’s mindset to try to throw it down every time he gets the ball down low.. maybe i’m just used to seeing Diaw pass it out for a 3 instead. RoLo has a ways to go on the offense end though.

by brian13 on Nov 16, 2008 7:42 PM MST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Amundson..

If every player on the Suns played with half of his energy, we’d be the best defensive team in the league.

by brian13 on Nov 16, 2008 7:49 PM MST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

4th Quarter

When Nash is on the bench, we cannot have a let down. This game is too important. Energy needs to be high and we can’t let them think they have a shot to win.

It's Ba-Nash. It's a no brainer.

by Suns Ben on Nov 16, 2008 8:00 PM MST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Just liked you called it Ben

Nash is having one of his best games this season. The guy is putting up some D-E-F-E-N-S-E

nash..

is he gonna play the whole 2nd half?

by brian13 on Nov 16, 2008 8:10 PM MST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Great win

Probably the best of the season. The defense was awesome. Rasheed and AI didn’t do jack and folks stop for a minute and remember who was guarding them.

Nash and Amare. Non-defensive players. Locked ’em up!

Btw – I am still loving Boris’ game this year. He got a bit sloppy at the end but its not like Amare or Nash didn’t turn the ball over a few times.

Grant was awesome as well and I KNEW AmundSun would be a fan favorite after seeing him play in Vegas and pre-season. He looked like Marion on that breakway dunk!

Only Bell played like crap. We should mention that both of his backups are out and he’s playing a ton of minutes but I am starting to agree w/ JSun about Raja. His time might be over. I can’t wait to see if Tucker can step up.

by Phoenix Stan on Nov 16, 2008 8:36 PM MST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

In Rajas defense

It’s no easy task to guard R Hamilton most of the night and have a great game on the offensive end. I’m just sayin’…..

Ok

but he missed a LOT of wide open shots and I didn’t like his body language either…he seems stressed on the court

by Phoenix Stan on Nov 16, 2008 9:07 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Indeed

He seems lost on the court.

No way

AI missed tough shots that sometimes he makes but he didn’t get anything easy and got nowhere close to the rim

LMAO

AI continues his poor shooting in PHOENIX. He’s like a career 25% shooter in the valley of the Sun

I wish I could find the ESPNews commercial from a year or so ago.

Searched and searched, but to no avail. It’s the one where the guy is talking sports out of his ass because he doesn’t watch ESPNews, and he snaps off the great line, “That Steve Nash…tremendous shot blocker!”

Came to mind tonight.
