Hating on Dragic
The blogosphere's resident Goran hater have been active with a few posts on the recent play of our rookie point guards.
Personally, I am not as ready to make the conclusions he does but I love the effort and hustle he brings to the debate. Give it a look.

Something Good.
Goran had more rebounds than Shaq last night. :)
It's Ba-Nash. It's a no brainer.

Rookie
He isnt Magic Johnson reborn folks. Give him time to adjust to the new game (Euro ball is different btw) and he’ll be solid. The only catch is he probably wont be solid this year. Such is the way with almost all rookies.

Nash's First Year
That blog is a joke. If blogs existed during Nash’s rookie year, he would’ve been posting the same things about him.
Seriously. Go look at the stat lines. Yeah Goran might be running 5 more minutes a game, but there’s still so much season left that I guarantee his stats will increase enough to make that a wash.

Agreed.
Not to mention that ever since Nash came here, we have had a HUGE drop off whenever he’s been on the bench.

There are lots of people with Nash's first year stat lines or better.
And they work at wal-mart.
Because they didn’t work as hard as Nash. The question is, how hard is Goran going to work?

True, but...
…that’s not something I’m worried about at this point. Everything I’ve read and everything I’ve seen leads me to believe the guy cares, so I’m excited he’s got the opportunity to play under Nash.
Plus I legitimately think pulling him for Nash at the end of the Hornets game killed us. Dragic shut Paul down, then shut down whoever subbed in for him, and we had mounted a great run. All until Paul was headed back in and Porter decided to pull Goran for Nash. Nash had a series of turnovers and that was game.

He mentions Dragic's -8 in 16 min.
Last season, 07-08, when nash was off the floor, we were -5.2.
In 06-07, we were -0.4.
In 05-06, we were -0.7.
In 04-05, we were -2.6.
To put that into perspective, only 3 players on the suns, other than Nash, had a negative +/- in those 4 years.
In 04-05, with Marion off we were -4.4 and with Stoudemire off we were -0.7.
In 05-06, when Diaw was off the court we were -1.5.
We are going to struggle when Nash is off the court. It has been a whole 12 NBA games in this young man’s career. We are playing him now so that he will develop…. Give me (and him) a break.

Beno
I know its an obvious comparison given their shared Sloveniality but I am thinking that Goran’s upside is Beno with more vision and better defense.
They are built about the same and have similar games except that Goran can’t score the ball yet. I think that will come and his shot will improve as his confidence does.
What I am most looking for is improvement from Nov to Jan to April

ding ding ding
Beno’s good but I hope Dragic can be better. But I’m pretty much settling on the fact that Nash is one-of-a-kind and there will not be a second coming of him in my lifetime.

The main problem with Singletary
Is his size. He’s definitely a spark off the bench and there’s a good chance he’ll have a decent career as a back-up point guard, but that’s about it. If it’s true that Goran has starting PG potential, then you’ve got to stick with him for a while.

Goran-Hater-Dude
I’m beginning to think, as Stan posted on his blog, that this guy must be related to Singletary somehow.
He says he’s been around bball for a long period of time…that alone should elminate the vendetta against Dragic. No one expected Dragic to outshine Nash or be an all-star this soon. All we needed him to do is to faciliate the offense when Nash is out and not turn the ball over consistently. Isn’t he doing what we want him to do? Sure, he can improve (and he will). But as a rookie, a pg under Nash, and new to the U.S., Goran is doing pretty damn good so far.
Manu, Steve, Paul – all didn’t have spectacular years as rookies but man did they have potential. Even in the few games I’ve seen of Dragic, he does have a good vision and court awareness and wants to make the right play/pass.
Coming from Slovenia, this has got to be overwhelming for him. Someone mentioned confidence above and that’s exactly it. Hard work and confidence.
It's Ba-Nash. It's a no brainer.
