Amare's Weird Interview

So...ESPN has a story by the always entertaining Stephen A. Smith about Amare.  Basically, Amare isn't incredibly happy about the number of touches he is getting.  Which...is understandable to me.  It seems that frequently during games the Suns stubbornly go to Shaq, OVER and OVER and OVER when Amare is in just as good position.  It bothers me a lot... Amare is a beast when he gets more touches.  Shaq has been doing well, obviously, but I can't stand seeing STAT standing motionless around the top of the key for an entire offensive possession. It's just a waste

The article also hinted that Amare might look at joining another team in '10 when he is a free agent...Yikes.

What do you think?

That Phoenix needs to prepare to make him a great offer or he will be gone (maybe to join another star player)

Amare is a businessman, and a competitor. He knows his price. And I doubt he sticks around for a rebuilding project.

i think amare is incredibly loyal and would give phoenix the first shot to keep him

BUT – i also think we are slapping him in the face right now by not using him as much

still, in 10, we can add a major piece with our cap room and then trul build around him

i hope like hell he doesnt leave

I agree

They better come up with a great offer. Otherwise, the dude is gone. I think that he likes being here but this is a business and if they want to keep him they need to show him the money.

About his touches, I agree that they need to use him more, he is deadly efficient but if he wants the ball in his hands he needs to move around without the ball first. I sometimes find him standing just watching what’s going on. Go get the ball, ask gor it. shout for it.

Major Piece

What major piece is more worthwhile than Amare? His monster dunks and ability to foul out the entire frontline of the other team are pretty valuable.

Sure Amare could be ditched for Lebron but that’s about it. Bosh is a better rebounder but more brings more of a finesse game on offense.

Wade’s a great player but a bit under sized and injury prone.

I’d keep Amare.

Besides no one wants to sign with the Suns now a days. We can’t even talk the Barry kid into joining us he’d rather play with the Spurs Rockets.

I agree with this 100%.

Shaq has been playing very well, but do they really think that he is a better choice offensively than Amare?

Amare is all talk. We’ve seen him at his best-last season there were about 4 or 5 games in a row where he dominated, he was like a Garnett. I see a lack of motivation on his part, I see little improvement in his game over the past few years. I could pull some stats to prove my position, but what’s the point? We all see it.

Depending on his performance, he’ll most likely leave. Obviously we have to see how he performs from now until then to determine what to offer the guy. But if pro athletes have taught us anything, it’s that they’ll go for the money and the opportunity to be “the man,” not to mention a media capital to play in. No hate to the guy, he is apretty good player, but certainly not Dwight Howard, KG, etc. He even admits it.

And further…I know we have enough talent to compete with anyone in the league. I mean, does Utah really have more talent than us? We should be able to compete with the Lakers. I’m pretty surprised that TP is already getting so much resistance to his system. And yes I don’t think guys are trying very hard to get it.

TPs System

TP’s system is kinda worthless for the other 4 guys besides Shaq. In the pound it into Shaq system TP is using guys like Nash, Raja, and Amare are supposed to run around their various areas of the court and hope Shaq passes out of the post to them. It’s kinda lame to be you and unfullfilling as a competitor if that is your role
