Big Man Problem on the Paint (CLOGGING the MIDDLE)

First, I want to say hi to this great community.

Im one of this Team Fans, though im a member of some Team Blog(s) too.

I think the problem between Ammare and Shaq can be resolve if:

1. One of them willing to start coming from the bench -  intead of being together on starting Line up. As both of them (amare & Shaq) are seeking attentions and more ball. They cannot give thier full ability and talent if they are together in one line up, as they both wanted to score at the same time.

2. Ego's need to put aside - If they wanted to make it work. as Shaq agreed already to sitdown his ass every other game, then why not ask him to start from the bench as second unit. In that case it will create a big mismatch on opposing team, while the big guys of other team are resting and also amare (if he is starter) then Shaq can create a big havoc on the 2nd unit.

3. Steve Nash should learn how to adjust himself on what the game needed him to play (knowing his MVP) then he should not hesitate to do that adjustment for himself.

Im not an expert on this but, in that kind team that full of talent its sad to see they're struggling on thier own play..

You have some interesting points:

1. Try telling Amare he’s coming off the bench and see what happens!!…It’s probably more likely Shaq would come off the bench. I would agree he could cause some matchup problems, dominate the boards, etc. It could be interesting. What I was thinking more of was what they tried to do last year. Shaq played secondary to Amare. Of course it didn’t get us too far, but I think the team is pretty productive putting the ball in Amare’s hands, that way when he gets doubled, he can make a quick pass in the lane to Shaq for an easy dunk. The way it’s going now is in reverse, Shaq first, Amare, well lost, or nowhere near the ball.

2. I’m not sure what you mean on #3 with Nash. Nash is running TP’s system. It all begins with him as he brings the ball up. I think Nash is legitimately trying to do what TP wants which may be a reason why there are no “adjustments” as you state. But haven’t we seen Nash go off a couple times this season when the team was down and nothing else was happening? This is no different then Nash the past 3 years. He first looks to get others involved and then takes things into his own hands when he needs. Personally I wouldn’t mind seeing him take over more, but again, that’s not what TP wants.

Remember, TP and Kerr want the Phoenix Spurs, a plodding, deliberate style. It doesn’t allow for much creation on the fly. Of course it can be successful, but look at how many years the core of the Spurs have been together. They win, they gel together, they believe in Pop, and all is well. The Suns are in a much different position.

I don't get Shaq...

What’s up with his “Amare project”? Totally forgot about it.
Here comes Porter trying to make Shaq the first offensive option (and we all know that’s a mistake) telling him he will have more touches…and suddenly we have a battle of egos. That’s the last thing we needed here. Deja vu anyone?

Somehow D'Antoni managed to make it work.

So it’s not like they can’t work together…Porter and co. have to figure it out.

Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." Amare Stoudemire, when asked to comment on a 22-point third quarter against the Kings, said, "I've got a tendency to jump over some guys' heads and throw it down."

I seem to recall

having exactly these same issues last year. Chemistry. Not having fun. Even turnover problems.
That’s why we traded Marion for Shaq. At least I thought that’s why.

Winning solves all problems.

Not winning simply magnifies the small crap that every team deals with
