From one of my favorite basketball site, a look at the Suns 3 man game. There's another version not shown here that I've see the Suns run where Diaw streaks in from the wing just as Amare is rolling into the lane drawing coverage.

As the man says - don't go and worry yourself about the Suns offense.

This is a great link

but the guy seems to imply that this offense is new. We’ve been running variations of this since the Shaq trade. It’s a D’Antoni thing.

Still great post. I never go to that site on my own, but every time I follow a link there it’s awesome.

I think what's different

Is that Amare is the fulcrum rather than the wagging end of the lever. THAT is why his assists are up and Nash’s are down.

Hmmm

not sure i agree w/ that. I think Amare’s assists are way up b/c he’s playing better. The offense also seems to know where the center is going to be for those dump off passes. I am not sure if that’s Porter’s offense or Amare just being a bit smarter about his game and thinking half a step ahead. Also – Amare’s reputation helps. Teams know that they have to help off to try and stop Amare at the rim so that’s going to leave guys open. He’s drawing so much attention now b/c the Suns are giving him the ball more and in better position (high post).

One thing for sure – his charges are way down and his decision making is way up.

As for Nash – well I just think that he’s got the ball in his hands a lot less now. I also noticed something I saw last year as well. On a play where he did drive into the lane he kicked back to Raja who was wide open. In the past that pass would have hit Raja right in the hands and he could have gone straight into his shooting motion. These days the Nash pass is often just a bit off target which disrupts the shot.

Nash can't hit the shooter??

You think that problem is going to continue? He’s on the decline?

No, no, no. You can see he’s rusty but that problem will not last long.
