Credible source says Jason Richardson to Suns
Along with Jared Dudley, in exchange for Raja Bell, Sean Singletary and Boris Diaw.
dbdynasty is the Suns insider on the RealGM forum; he broke news of the Shaq trade weeks before it happened, and he provided constant updates on the D'Antoni situation this offseason.
The salaries match:
Richardson is spectacular on offense, and a great 3 PT marksmen last year, so he'll help spread the floor, but according to Hollinger's scouting report, he's an atrocious defender.
I really, really love Raja Bell and Boris Diaw. Raja is part of the heart of this team, and he can still ball, even though he's become inconsistent and his defense has clearly suffered. Boris Diaw is exceptionally talented, and he's put it together this year to become a valued role player and a great guy off the bench. He's our second best post player and our best post defender IMO. Without Boris, we're left with Amundson and Fropez as our backup bigs....not a good sign.
We should trade Tragic before we trade Singletary as well, but I do like Jared Dudley quite a bit.

On the surface I don't like this trade. I am all for moving Bell because we have depth there so replacing him with a shooting guard that needs the ball doesn't make much sense. JRich can ball but I don't see him as a good fit on the Suns right now.
If we are going to make a move we need a backup PG and/or a backup Center. Our two deepest positions are the shooting guard / small forward. Why would we want more of those?
So I vote no unless there's more to this.

Looks like my vote counts for crap. Seems official:

are you serious?
Richardson is a scoring stud, and getting rid of Diaw is the best thing that has happened for this team in the past 5 years….anyone who has watched Diaw play basketball this season (and last season) understands this. This makes us more athletic. Dudley is a great defender…
HOW COULD ANYONE NOT BE ECSTATIC?!

Thinking its good
I got this call from Bluntman while sitting at an airport bar on my way back to the P-H-X, halfway through an American beer.
Getting online to check around, but I like it.
I’m a little disappointed the Boris was getting back to form, but the Full French still isn’t worth $9M a year. Glad to be rid of Bell.
Kerr must be reading my posts!
JRich definitely makes the team more athletic.

Sad to see Raja go...
but this could be the shot in the arm that we really needed.

The reason this pleases me
is because it gives space for Tucker to play. With a healthy Tucker and now J-Rich, we’re lookin like a scoring machine.
Diaw and Raja will be missed. They gave us a lot of good times. Hey Raja, how about another Kobe Clothesline….for old times sake?

If Porter plays three swingmen at the same time

Personnel wise, I like this trade...
but even with Raja’s play declining a little, I’m definitely gonna miss him.
Steve Kerr has sure put his name all over this team, huh? The only players left from before Kerr was named GM are Nash, Amare, and Barbosa.

We Miss Them
Warriors fan here. Can we offer you guys anything for JRich and Barnes, back?

I like this deal
Bell was obviously not a happy Sun, and his defense was declining. Diaw never has really played well since Amare got healthy again.
J.Rich will take the ball to the cup, sure his D is weak, but this makes the team quicker and more athletic.
Have to give Kerr credit.

I can say
That from a pure offensive standpoint, it’s a great deal. This guy is looking to dunk on you every time and when he is not doing that he’s shooting threes. It’ll be interesting to see how Porter manages his minutes since JRich really needs the ball in his hands quite a lot. For those of you (including me) that wanted Marion back…well here you go.
I’ll miss Raja and Boris. No doubt about that. They bled orange for us every time they were on the court.
On the other hand I’m kind of pissed that Kerr is having an identity crisis: Didn’t you want a “defensive team”? No more run n gun?? If you were going to pull off something like this….why not keep Mike?
