Jason Richardson to Suns is this years Gasol to Lakers

We now know at least one thing, Steve Kerr isn’t afraid to pull the trigger on a major trade.

After a week of uninspired play the Suns decided to pull off this seasons version of the Kwame Brown for Pau Gasol. In picking up Jason Richardson from the Charlotte Bobcats for Boris Diaw and Raja Bell, Steve Kerr revived the Suns championship dreams. Dreams that had been on life support since last April.

Some will claim of the Suns gave up too much talent by trading Diaw and Bell. Those people would be wrong....

Answer me this

The suns didn’t have problems scoring with the highest FG% in the NBA. Cut turnovers to a normal number and eat a bit into the FGA dif and the Suns are right there.

But how do you see JRich being able to handle the great shooting guards like Kobe, Manu, Roy, JTerry, Monta, T Mac (if healthy).

The Suns need to be able to get stops and I am not sure JRich is going to help with that

The suns

will not beat Portland again.

You're right.

Portland will beat us in every game the two play for the rest of NBA history.

Very relevant to the topic.

Honestly Bell and Diaw weren’t helping much in that respect either. Plus when you look at Bell’s comments he really did nothing to help this team at all. J-Rich can create his own shot and hit the three while being able to slash to the hoop. It will help take pressure off nash too.

Manu,Roy and Kobe

scored on us at will with Bell. This team need a shake. I like the deal. J Rich will take the ball to the hole, only time Bell did was on a break, but for the most part Raja was a 3 point shooter, Period.

Plus

J-Rich is very movable, especially after playing with Nash. Diaw doesn’t quite have the same value.

as far as goes

richardson is significanlty bigger than bell and probably faster, mayeb not quicker, but he will be a bruiser on d. also he applies more offensive pressure on those guys mentioned above which makes it a tougher night for opponents. bell just stayed around the arc… richardson might try to dunk on your head as often as possible.

Bell

Bell is known primarily for his defense, but is limited on the offensive end. This year though the suns are getting torched by guards, how much worse can it get. J. Richardson is an exciting player and is going to bring suns fans to their feet every night he plays.

Lets

see first when they started to play on the court. the way they played on thier previous team will be diff now in this team that run a diff type of play.

So let us just welcome them and see what help they can do. Remember, theres a lot of players never become succesful on thier prev team just after they got traded and found the right type of play for them [shall i mention Cris Duhon? he’s bench rider in chicago, look at him now]. I only hope this changes become succesful for the Fun of Fans and team.

Congrats

on getting J Rich. Will it help your team? Have to wait and see. Just want to say as a Warriors fan i’m happy that J Rich is going to be on a good team. He was very loyal to our team all those losing years with us. He even took out a one page article in the paper after the 2006 season apologizing to Warriors fans for not making the playoffs. It wasn’t even his fault. Finally, after all his loyalty with us, he finally got to experience the playoffs in 07 then get’s traded to a bottom feeder team right after. I’m happy he gets to be on a good team now and wish him and the Suns the best.

Good deal.

This is a good deal for the Suns. Don’t know if I’d call it the robbery the Gasol trade was, but I like it. Could be a turning point for the Suns this year. A step in the right direction.

i agree with you, this trade was that big, and it shocks me that so many people on this board don’t get it. They will, but only later.

For those of you upset about this trade, bell was bashing the coach and team and asked to be traded last week….as for diaw, seriously, he’s worse then amare on coulda woulda potential. I heard once (I think from d’antoni) that diaw has more talent and potential than any player on the team, what bothers me and makes me glad that we traded diaw, is one…he’s right…two…it’ll never happen, he’s too busy partying.

This year’s Gasol trade, I agree totally, we’re moving on up, I predict we’ll be in the top 3-4 team in the west this year, not 5-8.

if dantoni was still here with you guys runnin the show

lineup would be
C amare
pf Marion
sf J rich
sg barbosa
pg Nash
oh those would be the days

by montadaboss on Dec 13, 2008 9:53 AM MST reply actions

Except that

it was D’Antoni that wanted to trade Marion and pushed for the Shaq deal…but I get your point
