The Sun is Setting (aka Kerr should be fired)
The downfall of the Suns began when we traded The Matrix for an overweight, over-rated, over the hill, good for nothing Shaq O'Neal. To say that Shaq doesn't fit in well with the Suns style of ball would be the understatement of all time. Not to mention...HIS CAREER IS HANGING BY A THREAD!!! He's got one or two years left tops...and that's coming of the bench!!!
Now we get rid of two of our top players for one top player?
Steve Kerr should be fired ASAP.
Word.

this post is awesome.
except not really.
shaq is playing like a new man. i still don’t quite buy into the trade, but with the way he’s been playing, you can’t complain.
two of our top players?! hahaha.
bell has been underachieving like mad. diaw was showing signs of life and improvement, and i may actually miss the frenchman, but i like the j. rich trade.

haha two of our top players?
we got rid of our 5th and 6th best players at best and got back someone who looks to be about our 4th best…

another
whining fans post. it think most of fans here are readers of Blazersblog, that whether the team Loss or Win they are crying for trade and blaming players.
sigh..
So many teams never even see the door of Playoffs and always on the bottom of standing every year, but i never see much like this ( or maybe they dont have fans anymore?)..

I don't get it, Higbot
Shaq still has more than most centers in the league ever had. He still can’t be guarded one on one. He will dominate most of them, as we saw vs. Milwaukee. And the trade is at least a wash, the only problem I have is a lingering concernabout back up bigs.
You’re not putting much thinking into your post. On some boards your thread would be dumped.

Not you, the other guy
I love a well-thought out argument. I’m not saying you have to have a well- thought out logical reason for preferring, say, LeBron to Kobe, but for firing a guy and making us start all over, I think that qualifies.

i think its a good trade
in fantasy… but how it actually works out remains to be seen. richardson is much more of a threat than diaw or bell. maybe even more of a threat than diaw and bell combined. but i wonder if nash and amare are really on board with this. and also, is barbosa gone next? i have only seen the suns play two or three times this year. but they looked dis-spirited. and thats a shame because they have been robbed so many times, that for their own management to be the malfunction would be the worst.
this coming from a knicks fan.

I think
this is the first good move Kerr has made.

how about signing barnes to a 700,000 dollar contract and hill to a veterans minimum (little over 1m)?
to put it in perspective, diaw, signed by d’ antoni, made 9 million a year

Shaq is not the problem
I was not sure about the trade for Shaq either. But don’t blame Shaq; it’s clearly not his fault.
For the first time in many years, he showed up to camp in shape…He’s been dominant in most games he’s played. And the offense is getting better about getting him the ball where he can either score or get uncontested shots from the wings.
I know that it’s easy to blame Shaq for a slow pace, but does no one remember the last few years that come playoff time, pace slows down, and our guys were always tired, injured, and not able to run well. The NBA season is long, and at their ages, there is no way Nash can run 38 minutes a game for the entire regular season and be playoff ready.
Shaq has done a great job protecting the paint. Now we just have to get better on the perimeter….

I think we just did
Hang on for the ride – I think this team just got more fun. Nash will be smiling again.

Richardson is an upgrade.
I’m not high on the Shaq trade. But Kerr has redeemed himself so far with this one. Richardson is an upgrade over Diaw. I liked Diaw at first, but he fell off after his first season in Phoenix. So far for me it is hard to hate on Kerr for this one.

The Suns are moving back towards the 04-05 days
If they can round out and be consistent, they can do damage with a big man to protect the paint now. Barnes effectively takes the spot-up shooter role from Bell and they add a dynamic offensive player in Richardson – something Diaw never would have never amounted up to. I think the intangible here is how bad do they want to win. There is about 4 other teams out there hungry with foam running down their mouths for a championship. Shaq looked hungry when he arrived, but that has waned. Right now, the key to progress is if Amare steps into leadership and becomes the intensity for the team and not mind about points and touches. When Amare is scoring in little chunks and is patrolling the paint – Phoenix’s game began to look like a contender.
