Yi Effect Solves China Bias for Yao
The shoo-in All-Star votes for Yao Ming from the land of 1 Billion clouds his achievements and is, to some, an embarrassment.
The recent Yi Jianlian All-Star voting returns, completely unjustified given his production, provides a way to simply net out the China effect on Yao Ming's votes.
Here is what Yi is getting for his 11 points and 6 rebounds in 27 minutes per game:
Yi Jianlian (NJ) 356,556
Here are Yao Ming's votes:
Yao Ming (Hou) 529,290
Here is the China-excluded Yao vote:
Yao Ming (Hou)* 172,734
Keep that number in mind as you cruise through the rest of the West Coast All-star voting.
Steve Nash is not even on my reserve list in the crowded west for PGs. I would give the start to Pau Gasol over Amare. However, I think the semi-retired Shaq is clearly the class of the West Coast Centers and should start this game.

Pretty ridiculous
I wonder how much of the rest of the Rockets got their votes from China. McGrady that high above other popular (and many better) guards, Batier with 100k+ when he only played 4 games this season, and Rafer 5k behind Roy.
TMac probably gets 90% from China, 9% from Houston, 1% from his family
or he’d have a negative vote count =)
Window Closed? Shit, just break it then.
Yi
I believe he got around 450,000 votes last year, as a WRITE-IN, so this shouldn’t be surprising…
Would be pretty hilarious/embarassing if he ends up passing KG and starts alongside Lebron in the East frontcourt. Is it to late to start voting in a chair to start for the West? :)
And I think the coaches would pick Shaq to be the reserve center.
Al Jeff
really deserves to be an all-star. He deffinately suffers from playing in Minnie. How long before he goes KG and demands a trade out of the cold north.

Speaking of Al Jeff
and since Kerr is playing trade machine GM I think that gives me fredome to do the same. So…

Amare to Minnie for Al Jeff and Randy Foye.
Amare can be the man all he wants up in Minnie. They are used to that.
We get Al Jeff who is a better rebounding then Amare and legit offensive threat that isn’t as good as Amare but still very good.
In Foye we get a backup PG who’s upside is to be a backup PG for his career.

you know Kerr wants that. Everything must go.
Besides Jefferson might be the better player

if we flame out all our good trade options will flame out too
Sell high, don’t sell low.
Everything must go.
