Bill Simmons disses Amar'e!?!?!
In his recent column on Mike D'Antoni (http://sports.espn.go.com/espnmag/story?section=magazine&id=3797805&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab1pos1), Bill Simmons takes a shot at Amar'e Stoudemire stating "Or Amaré Stoudemire? (Is he even an All-Star anymore?) ". How did Simmons go from praising Amare, back in at the beginning of the season said Amare was having a "Career Year" and was probably going to make Second Team All-NBA, to not even an all-star? Wheres the love Bill?
Amar'e's Season Stats: 22.2 ppg, 8.7 boards, 2.2 steals, and 1.1 blocks.
Amares obviously not putting up insane numbers but he has a solid stat sheet and has been extremely consistent (11 straight games over 20 points).

It would seem
That Simmons has joined the Suns bash-wagon like all the other talking heads.

it would seem...
…that simmons is an idiot, and i hate him. he never has anything good to say about the suns, ever. minus the early season amare talk, he is always one of the quickest to judge the suns decisions and say “i don’t agree with ___________”.
be it the richardson trade, the hiring of porter, the signing of dragic, anything. any move we make will be quickly (and harshly) criticized by him.

Simmons also wrote...
…the best eulogy for the D’Antoni era in Phoenix.
I read the article and really don’t find it all that offensive as a Suns fan. He’s probably a little too harsh on STAT, but beyond that, it’s a pretty well-written well-thought piece.

Usually
Simmons has been a Suns backer….for the most part.
When he comes down on us he comes down hard though.
Now Rosen…..there’s a guy who has issues with the Suns. Don’t know what his friggen problem is.

about rosen:
i don’t know what it is, but it seems like most ex-suns commentators generally have issues with the suns. maybe it’s the fact that we’re basically one of the most famous soap operas in the NBA, or maybe it’s just because of the “it could have been so good” mentality. who knows.

holy depressing.
the only things i’ve heard from simmons are watching him on sportscenter or NBA fastbreak, and he’s usually always criticizing moves the suns make.
i never knew he felt that way about the 7SOL era.
he was right. a couple shots of tequila would have been needed. i should’ve heeded his counsel.

it's a good article
the only reason some above are mad at him is because we wish it wasn’t true. We want the steve nash of 10-15 assists a game, we want the amare who is a top 5 player in the league, not a player with an attitude getting kicked out of games because he’s not smart enough (or he’s too selfish) to keep quiet
i’m done making excuses for amare
as for d’antoni, there’s too much information for me to have a strong opinion about how and why he left. I read different things…if the bottom line was he didn’t want to listen to kerr and sarver about getting a defensive coach – the weakness of his style – then I think it was best he left. But who knows how kerr/sarver & d’antoni actually treated each other except a few (very few poeple).
I can honestly say, (and expect you’all to be catching up eventually on this) that nash looks horrible this year as far as turnovers go, and i mean horrible!! It’s looking more and more like the ssol had more to do with Steve’s success than him being a late bloomer or basketball iq genius. Too bad for us…The real verdict will be in a year or 2, and then looking at d’antoni’s knicks and seeing what we see…
I still think we have the talent to win a championship, but I don’t think we have the maturity – and I mean Amare, and I don’t think we have the ball handling or decision making – and I mean Nash – because of the change of style of play – not because of his age or anything else.

Oddly...
… I think we can do it this year. In a horribly sad and hopeful way, this team is reminding me of Shaq’s Miami championship team. A kind of WTF FTW, if you know what I’m saying. Let’s just not count on the refs to bail the boys out of a game 3 debacle.

very very improbable
but then again, if it were not for that hope, why would anyone watch sports?
