Around SBN: VIDEO: Austin Rivers' Buzzer Beater Finishes Off UNC

Devil's Advocate

Hi there,

It's been a long time, but hey, I still bleed purple-orange.

Now,

  • we know he is pissed being out of the 2010 frenzy;
  • did he cost us Shawn ?;
  • is he really in that category ?

He has talked, a lot, about being that guy. But in my opinion, you are, or you are not. You prove it, anywhere you are.

So....

(Drums rolling...)

Would YOU trade AMARE ?

And what for ?!?

I'm actually pretty shure Zonaflash is going to rock my basketball knowledge (small) again !

Trade For...

Dirk!

Has no problem with Nash being the man, contract is the same length as Amare, after that, maybe re-sign, maybe blow up the team.

LaMarcus

+Raef and Sergio is an easy yes from Portland.
I think you guys are overrating LMA a little bit. He’s good, still have a lot of upside left and is an above average defender (imo) but his value is more similar to David West’s , not Amare.
You guys could get a lot more than that.
Amare is not a great fit in portland, because he’s not a team player but with him we’d be a lot closer to contending for a title.

Yeah, but PHX wouldn't pull the trigger on that deal

What I meant by give up too much is Lamarcus + Blake + Pryzbilla for Amare.

by hcblankscreen on Dec 6, 2008 4:53 PM MST up reply actions

why would you want Blake?

We’d be happy to give you Outlaw and Frye.
Let us keep Blake and Przy.

Sadly, I would trade Amare.

Dirk or LaMarcus+ would be nice.

Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." Amare Stoudemire, when asked to comment on a 22-point third quarter against the Kings, said, "I've got a tendency to jump over some guys' heads and throw it down."

Don't know.

Always liked Amare. Not sure on trading him. Dirk’s good, but can’t see Portland dealing LaMarcus.

More likely move by Kerr...

Click!

I remember the theory that Kerr is a saboteur employed by the Spurs. Who ever said that was a person ahead of their time.

if that happens...

…it’s official, and i’m moving to portland.

by Trevor Paxton on Dec 4, 2008 11:42 PM MST up reply actions

Kerr would definitely make that trade.

And Sarver would orgasm once he found out how much money he saved.

and we do need a backup PG! =)

Window Closed? Shit, just break it then.

I would move Amare

I just think we all are over evaluating him. Dirk for Amare, Dallas would laugh in our face. I would move him for a lottery pick and some bag of balls

"Have You heard of the Boom on Mizar 5?"

How about this trade?

Stoudemire, Tucker, and Bell to Indiana

Granger, Nesterovich, and Marquis Daniels to the Suns

They get Amare and youth with Tucker, and a defensive guard in Bell. Tucker and Bell’s contracts run through next year and Amare through 2010.

We get Granger and the expiring contracts of Nesterovich and Daniels. We get rebounding (ideally) wth Nesterovich…and we get Granger to build around a core of Diaw, Granger, Barbosa.

We could start Nash, Barbosa, Granger, Diaw, Shaq
2nd team Singletary/Dragic, Daniels, Barnes, Amundson, Lopez

I was looking at teams to trade with and Indiana looks like they have some pieces to unload….

What happened to Hill?

I am not sold on Granger anyway. He looks nice but players like that…they need to prove themselves over a few years.

Amare for all his faults is a top 5 (10 at least) player. Not even sure Granger is an all star.

I keep coming back to w/ Amare having been here before and having him get his head straight on get back on a roll.

I am willing to bet that happens again and Amare wins a few more player of the weeks and possible of the month awards. Come Feb there’s a very good chance this will all be a distant memory. At least the Amare effort thing. The team will still have issues but Amare will likely not be the main one.

If I am wrong and he doesn’t turn it around he will and should be gone come summer time. But Amare knows that his value for his next contract diminishes if he doesn’t play better on both ends and for all his faults Amare has always shown a willingness to work and improve. Mostly I think he’s just immature and not super bright. But I do think he means well.

I agree for the most part

I’m not quite sure that I would trade Amare, but IF that becomes an option/necessity, what could we get for him. Amare may be a top 5 player on offense in the right system, but we’ve seen his inability to create for himself in a non pick-and-roll offense. I agree with you that he does seem to mean well, and he does have a good work ethic for the most part…I just hope that his effort improves…Because, in general, effort shouldn’t have to be mentioned when it comes to a top-5 player.

Plus, it’s not all Amare’s fault. the whole team is to blame, from the owner, GM, coach, down to the players…I just hope their pride kicks in and they let their egos go…

I'd ask for Granger/Rush/Dunleavy
