#1 Topic of conversation on Phx sports talk radio - trade Amare.
Good thing he's not in town. Actually, I wish he were in town to hear this and perhaps get his head together.
As great as Amare can be, he's just doesn't have the mentality of a superstar. Works hard. Wants to be great. But there's something missing upstairs.
I do think his best years are still ahead of him and he will play better this season. Who could you possibly get back of equal value?

if sheed and sabonis, robinson and duncan worked.....
then shaq and amare can work…..i do think we need someone on the perimeter that can slash and score in traffic (sorry leandro….this is not you). However, Leandro does have a contract that matches up quite wonderfully with a certain player that can do that, and would be a great running mate with their rookie point guard. Plus, this alleged team also wants to pay their sixth man this much. Trade leandro for ben gordon….simple. Too many egos in the chicago backcourt anyway, and leandro would never bitch and moan like gordon and hughes. Gordon is no wade/kobe to play with shaq, but we have all seen him have some ridiculous 40 point nights and “could” mesh well with shaq if he puts the ball on the floor and attacks the rim with little disregard to shaq’s presence.
if shaq is in the way and amare cant with that. let shaq set a screen for him in the mid/high post. we all know amare loves to dribble and the jumper option is great for him. he needs a little space and for shaq to get out of the way.
the turnovers are mental/new system/porter. what is that yahoo doing in practice anyway?
i hate dirk and that nba commercial of him that i have to watch a thousand times on league pass broadband, “the nba where goofy looking boy named dirk happens”
GO SUNS, at least they are worse off then we are

Did Sheed and Sabonis work?
Interesting idea about Gordon though. I don’t know that makes us better to have another guy that needs the ball so much. Not enough balls to go around as it is. Besides, I really want to see what Tucker can do at the 2.
How about this:
Amare to Miami for Beasly and Marion?

hm...
…i’m not sure the front office will want to take marion back. have you seen how marion has been playing in the more half court oriented miami set? his numbers are almost at a career low (aside from his rookie season). beasley would be a good pickup, as i think he’s got mad potential (both on the offensive and defensive end).

2 years too late..
The organization decided then, to make its power forward, not its 2 time MVP point guard, the franchise player. They should have traded Amare for Garnett, but didn’t.
Now it’s too late.
Still, I should point out how potent the offense was at times during last season, with Shaq and Amare on the floor together. Mike D had certainly created a blueprint for how that offense should work, and the only problem, imho, was a lack of rhythm caused by unfamiliarity. Training camp would have fixed that.
The surprise, is that I expected the changes to the offense to be far smaller than those Terry Porter has implemented.
You can bet that once the offense gets some flow, the defense will pick up significantly. For that to happen, though, will require Terry Porter to ask Singletary & Dragic to be a poor man’s Nash for the second unit, with better man defense, rather than implement a different scheme. Just like Eisley impersonated Stockton in Utah.
