Welcome New People

Over the past few days and weeks we have noticed a LOT of new people posting here and just wanted to say Welcome!

The great thing about this site isn't me or Texsun...ok, maybe it is Texsun but certainly isn't me.

It's this great community of Suns fans from across the world coming together to share in a common purpose and bond that transcends the barriers of distance, gender, age and basketball acumen.
With crap like that, I should write for Hallmark.

What drew and kept me here and keeps me spending WAY too much time blogging is all the great comments and conversations that go on. Keep it coming!

So if you are new here and recently posted something - thank you.

If you are new here and are just lurking and thinking of commenting - do it now!

And even if you are a BSoS old-timer - thank you too.

If you are new around here feel free to use the comments to chime in and introduce yourself. I have a feeling that the rest of the season is going to take a lot of mutual support to prevent a mass suicide.

thanks for making
all us new posters feel welcome. i never see any negativity on this site (in regards to other posters), just constructive discussion. i just started posting here because it definitely is a tough time right now with the team and i have no friends who are suns fans (i used to live in tempe but moved to california a few years back). this is a great blog

cool man
dallas here, phoenix native, I agree with you, we rarely get any serious negativity, where azrepublic, and other blogs are really a waste of time to read.

what part of CA?

I beg to differ!
I live in Vermont, and I know of one other Suns' fanatic I've met who lives here as well. Whenever I wear my Suns' shirt, I typically get positive comments as well. Where are you, snowbird?

Dan?
I always assumed that Dan was still ghosting around here and perhaps using an alias.

I asked him that question via TEX, way back when.  He gave an evasive answer so I knew he was lying.

Same here...
I enjoy reading the posts, diaries, recaps. I love this team and it really hurts to see them struggle. My wife is a Spurs fan, so I really don't have anybody to talk to about the Suns. This is the only "good" way to vent. My dad is in Spain and he already turned into a Gasol freak!! With all the media and the Laker's coverage in Madrid, he has been brainwashed and has turned to the dark side already.

So thank you guys for making us feel welcome here. Let's hope that the Suns can turn the ship around and that by the end of the season we can all look back and say... "I never stopped believing!!!!"

by PanamaSun on Mar 7, 2008 3:05 PM MST   0 recs

OMG!
wife a spurs fan - sleeping with the enemy, father a laker fan (star wars - darth vader - luke sky walkers father)

wow, that's drama

wife on the same team over here, I think she (my wife) just hopes I stick with basketball and don't pick up football to watch, going to be hard being in dallas

Glad to be here
Thanks to the long-time members for creating some friendly confines here.  Since I can't be in Phoenix and talk Suns with fans on a daily basis, it's nice to be able to do it online.

by Mike Lisboa on Mar 7, 2008 3:32 PM MST   0 recs

thanks!
Yep, I've been lurking for a long time, but finally got my lazy fingers working and signed up! Thanks for the entertaining and informative posts. Seems like as I've grown up, I know less and less basketball fans, let alone Suns fans. Glad to have found you guys!

Najmsh, there will be another Suns fan in California shortly. I'll be moving there in a few months. Look out, we're invading!

Not really new, but...

I've read BSotS's RSS feed since SB Nation brought me aboard in October, but I'm just now getting involved in the community. So, uh, hi.

Welcome, especially you out of towners
Life can be lonely for Suns fans living behind enemy lines, even moreso if you're in Lakerland, where the resurgence is in full swing.  srp's right, this could be a stomach-churning spring here, after a few lean years I've been enjoying the annual thumping of the hated ones and the Suns deep runs, even a short patch of .500 ball has been tough to take, but I am hopeful that "The Big Letdown", as ESPN's Jon Hollinger has dubbed him
(http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/insider/columns/story?columnist=hollinger_john&page=Suns-080307&a mp;action=upsell&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fnba%2finsider%2fcolumns%2fstory% 3fcolumnist%3dhollinger_john%26page%3dSuns-080307)
  will pull it together...

Go Suns!

This is a cool place

I used to while my hours away on the Yahoo message boards in 2004-2006, but they changed the format and it became a hassle to use.

One thing, there is no list of members, so I don't have sense of how big the community actually is, except that we saw 130 votes for the last poll.

i was curious about that myself,
ask texsun...if their software counts unique ip visits, instead of page loads, etc, we could tell how many people visit in a day, i think looking at how many members really might be deceiving..

by jasonsuns1 on Mar 7, 2008 5:56 PM MST to parent up   0 recs

Truly!
This really is, in my opinion the best Suns fan blog out there. I've been on others, and the negativity is so strong that one can't help but get caught up in it and lose sight of what really is important, and that is the state of the team.
I think a big part of the welcoming atmosphere is the handling by Dan, TexSun, and srp, and just in general the attitudes of the fans here.
It really conveys the best of the Phoenix fan, dedication to the team, and knowledge of the game.
I truly hope this venture lasts for a long time, hopefully with discussions of a repeat championship ;-)

G'Day from Australia - Suns Podcast
Hey all,

Thanks for the welcome srp - it's great to be able to come in here and talk constructive Suns talk! I enjoy reading both yours and TexSun's blogging, and have recently started to get more involved posting, albeit minimal for the meantime - well, my intent is good - BSOTS is now on my bookmarks toolbar, so it is just a click away!

If I may just plug my podcast, which is titled "Run N Gun Podcast - Phoenix Suns Talk" and is available on iTunes or over at www.thesportsstuff.com - check it out Suns fans I'd love to hear from you if you have a question to be aired on the show: runandgunsuns@gmail.com

Thanks and looking forward to getting more involved here!

From Hawaii
Been a Suns fan since Barkley but I've only really started watching basketball since Nash returned to Phoenix.  This place is great, all my time at school is spent on here or reading through Truehoop.

Hey
I'm from Atlanta (go Dirty Birds!) living in Boston right now but am a loyal Suns fan.  Also live two doors down from a Kobe-lover.  And by Kobe-lover, i mean the full-blown, irrational type.  Why should Kobe be the MVP?  "He's Awesome!  Who else can you give it to??" would be the reply from him.  And also, by extension, a Faker fan.  We argue a lot.

by RealTangiblesGuy on Mar 9, 2008 1:03 PM MDT   0 recs

And yes...
I do cringe every time I hear a gleeful update on this blog like "Atlanta's in the lottery again! Yay!"  We really wanna make the playoffs...

by RealTangiblesGuy on Mar 9, 2008 1:04 PM MDT   0 recs

And also...
the guy we got with the #3 pick that would have gone to Phoenix is freaking awesome.  If he had somehow slipped and we had not gotten the #3 pick, I really have to say Suns would be the favorite to win the title.  Yes, he's that good.

Love this site
No Suns fans in Michigan, kind of the opposite philosophy with the Pistons around.  Great to get support here because I have to hear at work about the Suns struggles everyday.  Can't wait to see the Suns take their revenge on Detroit in person two weeks from tomorrow.

by MichiganSunsFan on Mar 9, 2008 1:20 PM MDT   0 recs

Suns Fan -- all da way from Virginia Beach, VA
Don't know any other Suns fan here.

Sad.

Then again, I'm used to being in the minority...
