How bout them Hornets?

Anyone watch the Hornets/Mavericks game?  Despite some first time jitters, they turned a 12 point half time deficit in to a 12 point win.

Chris Paul took over the game and the Mavericks look unraveled.  Tyson Chandler gobbled every rebound, Peja rained 3s, and David West hit his shots after starting the game 1-8 shooting.

I love Steve Nash and he's my favorite, but I LOVE watching Chris Paul play.

He is FEARLESS. His line? 35 points, 10 assists, 1 turnover and a handful of steals.

So much for being a newbie in the second season, eh?

How scary of an opponent would they be?

Careful

I wouldn’t be looking past the Spurs just yet…

i wouldn't dream it

i wasn’t just implying they’d be dangerous for the suns. it’s applicable to ALL western conference teams not just the suns

that tingly feeling? it isn't my spidey sense sensing danger... it means it's the playoffs, baby!

Oh ok

Well to be honest. Phoenix is more of a concern to me than the Hornets. If we get past you guys, I would welcome the Hornets in the 2nd round.

same thoughts

should we beat the Spurs (hopefully we’ll finally manage to do it), I think we could welcome the hornets in the second round…
To be more accurate, we should welcome anybody in the second round as it will mean we found a way to escape from this I-don’t-know-which-word-or-expression-could-describe-my-feelings-right-now 1st round!
Please, bring me us a win tomorrow!

Dallas sucks

I watched most of that game. If they lose in the 1st round, Avery is toast. Adjustment is the name of the game in the playoffs, and he gets ripped again and again in head-to-head with opposing coaches. Face it, except for that Spurs series in 2006, where Floppy gifted the Mavs the series by fouling in the last seconds, AJ has been trounced in the in-game strategy department.

It took the Suns missing 3 from their starting lineup for AJ to get his team to the Finals, where he was outclassed by Riley, who outcoached him to win with a mediocre Heat team. Yesterday, the Mavs couldn’t counter Byron Scott’s halftime adjustments. David West did a good job of bodying up Nowitzki, and Josh Howard kept firing up jumpers even though he had some air balls en route to a 4-17 shooting display.

Do you think AJ would have someone like Damp come out and pick West so Dirk had some space? Did Howard drive to the hoop? NOOOOO!

I would relish playing the Mavs when they are in such disarray. I seriously doubt they get past CP3 and co. But CMoney is right, we have to get to the second round. We can do it. But it will take smart basketball. Every play is important, and forget getting any help from the refs. That train isn’t coming.

Dallas sucks!?

Dude, before you start trying to put Dallas down, try winning a game against the spurts!! If the suns get past the 1st round, i think then – and ONLY then will you have room to bash another team!!

Dallas still sucks

I’ll bash ‘em when I think it is warranted—they stink. Their game is riddled with mistakes. What my team does has no bearing on sound basketball analysis. If the Suns were the Grizzlies, I’d be saying the same thing.

You need to try and tell the difference between pointing out deficiencies and putting someone down. They are not the same thing.

then if you’re all about pointing out deficiencies when it’s warranted, how about pointing out the fact that the suns once again gave up a lead and lost the game. a couple of weeks ago i do believe that it was said that when the suns had that quarter where they only scored 9 pts “that would never happen again – it was just a fluke”....they scored only 11 pts in the 3rd quarter last night….that’s all i’m saying….would you say that has anything to do with “sound basketball analysis”?
