The Death of an Era
Well there will be no fairy tale ending for the Suns this year. The dark clouds of despair have moved in over Suns land and so they shall stay until hope once again blossoms. I very much fear that the Nash era has just died tonight and that a long period of rebuilding has just begun. It weighs heavily on my heart to have just said that but I fear it to be true.
Things shall start to change very soon in AWA. Coach D will probably be fired, and movable pieces like Barbosa, Bell or Diaw may be shipped off for draft picks or...something. We will probably not know vengeance or glory for several years to come and the waiting will see many casual fans leave the ranks of the Suns. Tough times lie ahead for the Suns and their fans. We must pray that the cap space could perhaps land us someone who could finally lead us to the promised land, or that our draft fortunes may change or maybe we'll finally just have things go our way. Either way though I feel that tonight another chapter in the Suns' sad history was brought to a tear filled close. We'll still get our spot in the playoffs like we almost always do, but the hope for something greater is gone for now.
Mark my words though. We will have our time in the sun, we will know glory and we will have our revenge!
LONG LIVE THE SUNS!

No Personnel Changes
and movable pieces like Barbosa or Diaw may be shipped off for young talent.
Younger than 25 and 26? Really?
No one’s going to take Diaw at $9M a year just because of two games. He’s not going anywhere until he becomes an expiring contract.
LB scores about 14 points a night and is a relative bargain at $5M per year. You can’t get that type of regular output at that price. He’s not going anywhere.
The NBA killed the Suns. Last year.
Then, they spit in our faces by not enforcing the “bright line” rule this year.
Or, perhaps, the return of our Prodigal Sun?

You're right
damn I was dumb to say that. Too damned depressed to think right now. Sorry.

Bell?
Who wants Bell?
Really? He’s a $5M per year “hustle player” that hasn’t picked up a loose ball since he knocked it lose from Kobe in 2006. He had one good shooting year, leading Eddie Johnson to call him “the streakiest shooter in the NBA.” Yeah, he has a lot of cold streaks. Since the beginning of the season, I’ve been saying he’s been getting too much PT.
At least, maybe a new coach will give him more bench time.
Who’s going to trade for him? Maybe a rebuilding team that needs some “toughness” and “leadership.”
You think that Oklahoma would take Bell and the 15th pick for their lottery pick? That might work, actually.

Prodigal Sun? Great Idea!
It would be so nice to see Marcus Banks back in a Suns uniform!

Nash for Calderon
...and release D’Antoni to join him. Those of you who have read my posts the last year know I’m a huge fan of both and would really hate to see either of them go, but I think it would be a terrific move for all involved. Nash + D’Antoni + Bosh + Kapono and crew (including finally having a real Nash backup in TJ Ford) + Eastern Conference = much better chance of reaching the Finals than Nash + D’Antoni + Amare + Shaq. And young Calderon + new coach + new team built around Shaq and Amare = much better chance of reaching the Finals during Amare’s prime than Nash + D’Antoni + Amare + Shaq. No way the Raptors do that if they’ve got any sense, but I’d love to see it happen for the benefit of everyone involved. Much as I hate to say it, the Nash/D’Antoni era died the day Shaq arrived in Phoenix. Time for something new, and what a great way for Nash to finish his career than by returning home to his native country.

Calderon
The ONLY PG’s I would even think of trading Nash for are: Calderon, CP3, Rondo. Anything else and we’re better off in the short and long term keeping Nash. Of those 3, the only one who has even a long shot of being available is Calderon. I think TOR realizes which of their PG’s is better, though.
