D'ANTONI JUST GOT FIRED

:O
Personally, I think the wrong man got fired.
This is a sad day for the Phoenix Suns...I wish Mike the best of luck.
I can't think of any words here so....this sucks. It really does. This is upsetting.
Um. Am I at the limit yet?
WHY CAN'T WE FIRE KERR INSTEAD?
FOUR MORE WORDS NEEDED!
Sad face.

Well shit
I cant say that besides the regular season that I have been fond of Coach D, but who in the hell are we going to replace him with now? I know I’ve railed on D’s inability to adapt quickly but if this story is for real then it just seems way too quick. Couldnt they have had a bit of a powwow with him and figured out or negotiate how to proceed?
Sigh what a damned day this has turned into.

Not good
Talk about a knee-jerk reaction.
Was it that bad?
Who can take over this team next year?
He’s not the best head coach for the job, but I don’t see anyone better.
Thanks for the heads-up on that.

I think we should be careful
With this story. I know MacCullum thinks he owns the suns, and likes to talk about us alot. But the story never says he was fired, never said for sure he was resigning, and rested heavily on sources beside D’Antoni or Kerr themselves, and in situational things. Call me an optimist

Tomorrow? BC will be on his doorstep at midnight.

Gee, that was quick. If it’s true, we have better things to think/wonder about than where D’Antoni goes next though, rather who in the heck will be the next coach??

I liked D’Antoni but agree with the criticisms about not enough attention to defense, not developing the bench/young guys, etc., and if he’s as stubborn and bullheaded as rumored, then trying to change him ain’t going to work.

A sad day for the Suns
We are headed for a Clipper-like stretch with Sarver-Kerr. Jerry, oh Jerry, I know you needed the money, but why’d you have to sell?
You watch. they’ll try to hire Lute Olson. Our beloved Suns have turned into Wildcats. Oh, the pain!
My official fave team now is the Celtics .

For the record
Paul Coro seems to think McCallum jumped the gun a bit in that report on SI.com.

Also, it sounds like if D’Antoni leaves, it won’t be because he was officially fired but because he wants to go somewhere else. Of course being “pushed out” by your boss making your working environment intolerable isn’t necessarily any better than being outright fired, but at least it sounds like it’s semi-sorta his choice (if it happens at all) and not that he’s being literally fired.

Oh and as far as the wrong man being fired
....unfortunately, we can’t fire Robert Sarver. He’s the one who really caused this by necessitating the KT trade that set the ball rolling. I can’t really fault him—after all, it’s his team and his money. But without the luxury tax fear creating that silly and premature trade that cost two draft picks, the Suns could have kept their options open (knowing that there’s always a market for expiring contracts), and maybe packaged him with Marion for some much more “future-friendly” players than Shaq. Heck, we might have even ended up with Gasol ourselves and had the pleasure of sending Kobe and crew home early again.

Agreed, he might want to go
Kerr is an idiot. He is a Wildcat, and a closet Spur. I said it in another post, we are headed for a lottery stretch. How can you fire a guy when you jolted him out of his identity at mid-season after giving away draft choices and allowing your best bench big to make his way to your rival?
Again, Kerr is an idiot.

Why? really???
If D’Antoni leaves because he said he wants to leave, then that’s a different story, thats a cop out, and I don’t think that he’d do that unless he was unhappy. Kerr has to have fired him, right? He has to make a move to look like he is doing something to better this team, and in the process has another shot at keeping his job…..
