Do the Knicks Have Anything that the Suns Want?
Would Mike D'Antoni like to see Boris Diaw or Leandro Barboas in New York?
Would he like to take someone with him? Anyone?
If so, do the Knicks have anything?
What about their pick? Knicks have a lottery pick and are slated for #5 (statistically). LB and #15 for the #5 pick?
David Lee is an "energy" guy and still kind of cheap (if memory serves).
How much do you think D'Antoni is going to look to import a player or two?

do we really need David Lee....
when Boris is of a similar mold and he is going to have to be paid like Boris soon…....we need another athlete IMO….we may not be run and gun suns anymore, but that idea is true when we trade the relay’s anchor for a shotput thrower. Ariza, Pietrus, Outlaw, etc. is what we should be looking for. Someone who can cut to the basket and snowbird very well. The “easy” points that we used to get….plus, an athlete can usually play some D.

Doubt it
The Knicks have a plethora of guards that are shoot-first like Barbosa and they would be crazy to get rid of Lee. Boris was always in Mike D’s dogshouse but he still played him all the time. I guess Boris could be a possibility since they have nobody that knows how to pass.

Diaw
for Malik Rose (exp.) and Balkman is a possibility.
I’m not sure the Knicks would do it, it depend on their cap space plans.

Get the #5
Boris is a valuable commodity.. i would never trade him for scrubs. In fact, I keep him. Now I would entertain LB and the #15 for the #5, if we are sure we can get a much bertter draftee at the 5 spot. What does anyone in AZ think of Jerryd Bayless? Would he be worth it, or is he not much more than Barbosa? Here is his NBADRAFT.NET write-up:
Possesses incredible open floor speed, which combined with a devastating first step make him a nightmare to defend … Tremendous leaping ability and superb body control allow him to finish in the lane over much taller players … Gets great lift on his jump-shot, with range well out to the NBA three … His pull up jumper is magnificent; with the elevation, balance, and quick release, he is virtually able to shoot whenever, and over whomever he desires … He has great intelligence and confidence plus a swagger that makes him an assassin on the floor in heightened situations … Is able to get open shots by making good reads and using screens effectively … Aggressive attacking the hoop, and extremely adept at getting to the foul line … Great hesitation and change of pace dibbles … Flash and flamboyance are nicely contrasted with a high basketball IQ and craftiness … Has all the tools to become a special player on the NBA level …
Would D’Antoni do the trade?

draft write-ups
Man, these things always crack me up. You read that thing you posted, Hawk, and it sounds like they’re describing Kobe Bryant.

To be fair
to nbadraft.net, Hawk only posted their “strengths” section on Bayless. The “weaknesses” section reads like this:
“Weaknesses: Although he has a great feel for the game, his playmaking skills will need to improve to handle the PG spot fulltime … His lack of a good wingspan neutralizes his great athleticism to a slight degree, and hinders his ability to defend … Although he improved as the season went along, he still settles for the contested jumpshot way too often, adding shot discipline is crucial … His shooting motion is a little unorthodox as he sort of shot puts the ball. But it’s nothing that needs tampering with as he shoots it the same way every time and very effectively … At times forces the issue too much, getting out of control and finding himself in traffic with nobody to throw the ball to … Will need to get stronger and better conditioned, he may have fallen victim to the physical grind, as fatigue settled in at the end of the season, his shot become more inconsistent, dropping his percentages substantially (he did not have a game where he made more than 2 threes in his last 10 outings)… His emotions can get the best of him, and at times his frustration renders him completely non-existent on the court … He is somewhat turnover prone, but with more experience and maturity it should not be a concern … Continues to be plagued by injuries, which raises questions about his durability … Despite all of his talent, there are some concerns about his ability to make others better, he has been on underachieving teams in AAU as well as at Arizona, raising the issue of selfishness. Is he a teammate others want to play with? It depends who you ask … Still has some maturing to do, but is seen as a guy who will ultimately succeed at the NBA level due to his tremendous desire and intelligence …”
So to get a full idea of their opinion of them, you should really post both.

Also
So you’re thinking:
Jerryd Bayless > Leandro Barbosa & Chase Budinger (Joe Alexander or Nicholas Batum).
I’m not sure about that.

No, just seeing what people think
That was my point. I don’t think that there’s a whole lot of difference between tyhe playerrs available in slots 3-16. You’ve got Rose and Beasley, then what, Brook Lopez? Is he even a starter in the NBA? Whereas Batum could be the steal of the draft, unless of course he turns out to be another Boris.
I say LB for the 5, and keep the 15.

Gallinari and Jordan
I think are both very special types of talents that are out of our range at the moment.
I can’t see anyone giving the fifth pick for LB though. That doesn’t make a lot of sense for a rebuilding team that already has enough shoot first guards.

not the same Knicks
Too bad Isiah is not still running the show. Can you imaging the laughingstock we would be if Walsh/D’Antoni somehow foisted Marbury back on us for usable players? Kerr would have to go live in Montana with the fishes. Isn’t that where Bill Buckner went?

I'm not sure if
there are any team that would trade for Diaw using only expirings.
Do not overvalue Diaw. He’s still a overpayed player with no heart.

Bayless
I have seen quite a few very critical ones. I only posted that one since Bayless played at Arizona, and some folks out there may have seen him play and have some info to offer. If you go down the line, you see some reviews that are downright insulting.
I didn’t see Bayless play at all, but it seems to me that Arizona would have finished better than 19-16 with him and Budinger in the lineup

DraftExpress
generally has the best write-ups, I think. But it and nbadraft.net are really the gold-standard for publicly available scouting reports.

What do you think of Boris? Do you have enough underage girls to lure him to NY. Club girls or something? Didn’t I see a special on HBO about that?
