Even if the Suns and Coach Mike D'Antoni can repair their relationship -- or they part ways and both are successful -- the handling of this situation shows that new General Manager Steve Kerr is not dealing with situations as smoothly as Jerry and/or Bryan Colangelo had when they ran the team. The Suns end up looking bad no matter what happens.

Bullshit (respectfully)
First, a caveat, I love the Colangelos way more than Sarver + Kerr.
However, the reason why the Colangelos were smoother was because of their propensity to dish out max contracts to players that didn’t deserve them (Starbury, for example). Hard for players to argue with an owner so liberal with their checkbook. Would Marion still be a Suns player today, if it weren’t for that max contract feeding the hubris?
Fortunately for the Suns, the Colangelos were crafty enough to hide their mistakes through trades.
On par, I don’t like the tough situations, but I do respect Kerr for having balls of steel to be straight up honest with players and coaches. Telling Marion he wasn’t a max players when everyone in the NBA knows it is just honesty, but takes balls of steel to do.
Have any of the Suns requests for D’Antoni seemed unreasonable? Don’t we know D’Antoni is a bit stubborn already?
I know I sound like a Sarver Kerr homer, but plenty of times I have defended the players, coaches and former management against these two guys. But in this case, the apparent lack of grace is simply the discipline to get the team into the best position possible. I can respect that.
