Eddie Johnson as head coach.
"Another Suns broadcaster, Eddie Johnson , told KTVK that he would like to be considered for the head coaching position. Johnson, 49, spent 17 years in the NBA and has been in broadcasting since his retirement in 1999."
Maybe the run and gun Suns team won't die. I think he would be really offensive minded, if you have ever read his basketball writings he has said that he believes a greater offense will surpass greater defense. Don't know if he has changed his mind after the last four Phoenix Suns seasons.
But he is of course just a long shot.

If he really said that...
He should NOT be considered to be the Suns coach.

If he really said that...
sign him up now. it’s obvious the Suns were lacking offense against the Spurs, when they were going to their 5th or 6th best player in the post. Sign him up NOW! obviously D’Antoni forgot how to run an offense. We need a guy who’s gonna come in and have everyone chucking 3’s.

We are supposed to learn from our mistakes
Why bring someone who is going to do the same thing?

I'm...
just kidding there. Honestly, I think Kerr is gonna take over as the coach, if not now, then maybe later on down the road. He’ll tell the world how he played and learned under Phil Jackson & Greg Popovich. Not only would Kerr coaching raise some eyebrows, but Sarver will save some money by just paying one guy to do two jobs. I’m betting Sarver wants Kerr to takeover as the coach, whether or not he’s ready.

Interesting point there
It might no happen but can you imagine that? Kerr as a coach…Maybe if the Suns run out of options that will be the desparate move… =S

Forgetting Offense vs Defense
for a moment.
I think that the job of Head Basketball Coach has some very specific requirements that make it the kind of thing that you don’t learn on the job.
If EJ is serious he should go get an assistant coaching job for a few years or even head coach in the D league…
I love EJ on TV but talking about basketball doesn’t qualify you to run a team. Otherwise, they could hire me!

Me no likey
Honestly, bring on Steve Kerr as head coach. I’m pretty sure that will not end well, but it will at least put him in his place. EJ is too green. And I don’t really wish ill on Stevie K, but I think he and Mr. Sarver have gotten a little big for their britches with this “We want to keep D’Antoni, but we want to break his spirit if he’s going to stay here” routine. And Coach D needs to break his own spirit a bit. But you’ve all read my feelings on that already.

I Don't Belive it
Why would EJ want to disrupt the nice little life he’s got going? He probably makes pretty good money as a broadcaster. He goes to the Y to shoot hoops now and again. He’s respected in the organization. Why would he want to go and get a stressful job like head coach of the Suns? More money? Ego? I don’t know. But it doesn’t matter because it won’t happen.
We seem to be seeing a changing of the guard in this league. There are tons of experienced coaches lying around, trouble is though, they are too old. The players can’t relate. And maybe the type of game being played has past them by. Hubie Brown looks like a corpse. Fratello and his face lift just finished demonstrating that he cannot win anymore. Same with Van Gundy. Riley hung on on too long. Larry Brown will certainly fail….I could go on and on.
So I think that brings us to our problem. How is a veteran squad going to buy in to the demands of a brand new coach? Maybe the players aren’t as stubborn as we think they are. But really, how are you going to tell Shaq and his rings what to do if he doesn’t want to do it? D’Antoni won in his career as player and coach-albeit Europe, but he has a swagger because he knows what winning something big feels like.
I think Kerr as coach would go over like Danny Ainge as coach-towels being thrown at him by various disgruntled veterans. Maybe water bottles or basketballs.
It's the Arizona talking, really.
