Nash says D'Antoni will stay
Denial: is the psychological process by which human beings protect themselves from things which threaten them by blocking knowledge of those things from their awareness. It is a defense which distorts reality; it keeps us from feeling the pain and uncomfortable truth about things we do not want to face.
Steve said the following:
"This is the last thing I'm going to say about our coaching situation: Mike's my coach, So I expect to see Mike back here next year. And I know there's a lot of stuff going on right now, but Mike's my coach. I love playing for him. I expect to see him back in October."
Is Steve in denial or does he know something that we don't?

Nash
Did he say this the day after they were knocked out of the playoffs? Because a fair few revelations have gone on since then…......

New Reports
Are that Chicago (Paxson) has the same problems with Mike Antoni that Kerr has with Mike.
Also, he’s not a huge hit in New York.
Interesting that Antoni’s agent has also said that Sarver and Kerr are handling this with class. Add that to the fact that Kerr is refusing to think about his list for coaches until this blows over.
Is this denial by Nash or is this the “you will be here and like it because I’m paying you a lot of money and it could be a helluva lot worse” attitude that Sarver could/should have used with Joe Johnson?

It was yesterday
I read it as Steve saying “Kerr, Sarver, don’t you dare let Mike D go”.
But by various accounts, offers are imminent ($30M for 5 years in NY)

Conflicting accounts
There are stories it isn’t so imminent. I think a lot of what’s being printed is being leaked by a savvy agent (at least that was what a NY columnist said on the radio this morning).

There is more to this..
Than what we know. Stephen Smith said last night that he thought Mike was using NY and Chicago as leverage to stay with the Suns. I really don’t think that’s the case but you never know..

Screamin' A
Whatever he says, the opposite is probably true.
Right now, this minute, I’m thinking Antoni wanted to move, but he’s not getting as much love as he thought he would get.
We were supposed to have a decision today, right? It’s getting pretty late in those other time zones.
Maybe, just maybe, Kerr knows more about the league than we give him credit for. He did not, and has not, burned any bridges over this thing. The Suns have stood pat and given Antoni the room to search around. Perhaps Kerr thought there was a decent chance that Antoni wouldn’t get any better offers and didn’t want to screw things up. Perhaps he also realizes that there are not a lot of better options out there right now. If/when Antoni comes back abashed, Kerr would say, “Those idiots don’t know what they passed up.”
Maybe …

I think it was...
...”not in the mood to talk about it” or “don’t even want to think about it”. Obviously without hearing the actual audio behind those quotes it’s hard to know for sure, but it sure seems like that’s about as “short” with the media as you ever hear Nash getting. Sounds like he’s mighty unhappy about the situation if nothing else.

on Nash
I’ve heard D’Antoni again and again say Steve Nash is the best basketball player in the nba. That’s just not true. Has steve Nash and the coach given us 4 fun years of basketball here, definitely!! But to me, it always seemed as if this coach hated confrontation and blew up over nothing a lot. The Suns have 2 big issues to solve, among others, who can handle the ball on a slower offense and not turn it over 5 times or more (Nash). What do we do with Shaq and the hack a shaq thing….there’s no answer there really. And for Nash, I think he’s a great shooter and we simply need to have the ball brought up and run the offense through someone else. A strong guard, Diaw could actually work on this, he is unselfish.
