Who do you root for?
I thought I would root for the Celtics initially versus the Lakers, but then I remembered something, they probably don't make it to the Finals without assistance from David Spurn, in the Atlanta series. Remember it was after game 4, with the series headed back to Boston, tied 2-2. Boston of course, never won a game in Atlanta.
And I know for sure that there is no way that at least 27 other teams in the NBA, would get away with guys coming on to the court, and have their star player (KG) push a ref, and not be penalized. We Suns fans will always be bitter for what happened last year, when Amare & Doris, were suspended for coming to the aide of their leader, Steve Nash, for essentially the same thing the Celtics got away with in the 1st round. Only differences were, that nobody on the Hawks leveled one of the best players, and nobody on the Suns, pushed a ref.
And to second that, I found myself, like many of you to be rather happy with the lesser of two evils prevailing, with the Lakers beating the Spurs. Nevertheless, I still hate the Lakers. I want to root for the Celtics, but I'm not sure they make it to the Finals without sheer ignorance from the NBA. I at least know that the Lakers earned their way to the Finals, granted they received a gift in the most sided trade in years, with Pau Gasol. And if not for the Gasol trade, maybe we don't trade for Shaq. Also KG, should be a Sun, and not be in Boston. That pains me too.
Nonetheless, this is a dream come true for the league, ABC, and many basketball fans, who grew up watching the great Lakers/Celtics rivalry. The Bandwagons are loading up. It's the return of the blue bloods. Regardless, I know that this will atleast be a better NBA FInals series, as opposed to the one where only 37 people outside of Cleveland and San Antonio watched last year.

Root for Big Three
I’m pulling for the Celtics mostly because I like their players and would like to see them win their first championship (even though Boston has 16). Plus, I live in L.A. so I don’t want to hear it from my friends about how great the Lakers are.

easy choice
I have no problem rooting for the Celtics. Although I was too young to follow them in the ‘60s, I was born in Massachusetts, and I remember people throwing the name Bill Russell around with reverence reserved for the Kennedys. So it isd only natural that I should like them. I didn’t even hate the Celtics when they beat us in the ‘76 finals.
On the other hand, I will not ever in any universe, existence or dimension root for the Lakers. So I guess that subject is closed.

I have a confession.
I used to watch the Lakers as a young immigrant in Chicago in 1996. I watched the 72 win team (although at the time I had no clue how many games they had won or that they were so good or that MJ was so good) and saw them win the championship. I then moved away from Chicago and did not watch any ball for the next 10 years until a friend and I watched Game 3 of the 06 Finals. Wade during those last 4 games reminded me of watching MJ somewhow (maybe because he was making so many points) and I “fell in love” with Wade. But once again, I didn’t watch any basketball. Then, last year, I went to nba.com randomly and it turned out to be playoff time. I read one of the “NBA Blog” articles about the Suns-Spurs series and the person said something like “but I”m fan of basketball so I root for the Suns” and I was confused. So I tuned it. And I loved the Suns. And I was furious at the suspensions. And I hated Duncan. And I got hooked. So I admit it, I then committed the cardinal sin of being an ardent fan of TWO teams. I didn’t know the rules of fandom and I followed both the Celtics and the Suns throughout the playoffs. I signed up for blogs of both teams and watched both. Sorry.

Torn
A game in, I have no idea who to root for. Living in Los Angeles, I’d rather not hear about the World Champion Lakers all year, but at the same time, I think Boston/New England sports fans are annoying to the point that I’d rather they not have yet another championship to their name.
That said, I feel like KG and Paul Pierce will both either die or go all Last Boy Scout before losing this series, so I’m a Boston fan whether I like it or not this series.

Its like choosing how to be raped in prison
Who do you root for as a Suns fan in the Finals? I can’t root for these teams. The Cavs, yes I can root for them. The Hornets, a feel good story for N.O. of sorts. Both teams could have slayed the Spurs the last 2 years. I can root for that.
This Lakers/Celtics matchup is no rivalry. These teams don’t hate each other. Their best players were mostly other teams draft picks. Both teams went from fallen dynasties to contenders with the aid of some good ol’ boy back alley trades. You aren’t going to see a Mchale on Rambis type foul in this series. Not in Stern’s NBA 2.0 where flopping and suspensions rule.
Both cities have some of the worst fans in all of sports (tied with NYC). Loudmouth, obnoxious, ungrateful people who left their city long ago (or worse never lived there). Bostonians don’t migrate well out west. As a Phoenix resident I am exposed to the LA Fakers fans more often. Shit talking vatos with high socks and shaved heads and Kobe jerseys. Dressed head to toe in yellow/purple looking as if a gay flag threw up.
As a Suns fan I can only root for this Finals to be tainted somehow with a controversy just like Suns/Spurs of last year.
