Around SBN: Dissecting Nick Diaz's Positive Drug Test

Great Idea for Back-Up Point Guard!

Star-divide

What if the Suns packaged some deal involving draft picks, and maybe some other ppl to try and get Kirk Hinrich? Supposedly, the Bulls are a bit disenfranchised with him, so they may be willing to not get his full vAlue in return. I think his defense, coupled with his pass-first mentality, and his 3 point accuracy ought to warrant him strong consideration!

The reality is, Nash is only going to be good for literally 1 (or maybe 2) more seasons, perhaps now it's time for pisking some changes for the franchise's future.

Should the Suns at least consider putting a package together to get Hinrich?

Possible

Sure, Hinrich is not a bad player. His current salary is a bit largish (10M), considering his lousy season last year, but, on the positive side, he does have declining pay scale.

If the Bulls draft Rose, he’ll likely be available, and the Bulls will undoubtedly be restructuring their payroll this summer since their two most talented players are not under contract (Deng and Gordon).

The question becomes what is worth giving up for him: we’re short on draft picks. We have this year’s, which we really shouldn’t trade without getting a young prospect as well, and then our pick next year (likely in the mid-20s). But we lack a pick in 2010. The only young talent I could see the Bulls giving up though is Thomas. Noah is, more or less, untouchable, considering their lack of size. So I’d hope we wouldn’t trade a pick.

If we could perhaps trade Diaw straight up for Hinrich, I could get behind that trade. And when you consider Chicago’s lack of size and the increasing possibility that they might move Deng, it’s not an impossible trade. So I’m with that.

But I’d hate to see us trade away our pick in this exceptionally deep draft.

Sven to Benfica! Please, please, please!

Diaw can go

Doesn’t $9M for $10M work. That’d be addition by subtraction, but, yeah, Chicago won’t do that.

Mmmmm ... Guinness

Boris > Hinrich

I know the Boris fan club is kind of thin but I would take him over Hinrich almost every day of the week (expect Sunday’s where Boris is hungover from his Saturday night in Scottsdale bars drinking hefeweizen and stealing babes from Matt Leinhart)

I think the back up PG should be someone like Lowery or whichever of those 3 young PG’s the Grizz doesn’t want.
