Does Detroit Have Anybody the Suns Wants?
There was an article somewhere (FoxSports, maybe others) in which Joe Dumars says he's going to make big changes. This morning on 910, a columnist from Detroit said the same thing.
According to the columnist, Billups is first on the chopping block due to his lack of intensity and the ridiculous upside of Rodney Stuckey. Rasheed Wallace is close behind, and Rip Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince may be close to untouchable.
Billups, though, is signed through 2012 (with a team option that year), making from $10M to $14M in his last year. I really can't see any team wanting to take that on.
The only guys I see adding anything to the Suns are Prince and Hamilton. Couple their protected status with their salaries (almost $9M for Prince and $10M for Hamilton -- meaning Diaw is the trade bait) and I don't see them coming here.
I wonder if anyone else has some better insight? Is there anyone on Detroit realisitically worth asking about?

Detroit parts
No to Wallace because of his head – he is like a much more talented Robert Horry – he plays when he wants, always seems to kill us. We don’t need that. The only way we get Billups is straight up for Nash. Even though Steve has taken his lumps, I am not ready to get rid of him. Of course it would be nice to have Hamilton or Prince, and I would not mind getting McDyess, although he dissed us twice, and that hurts.
Anyone? Nash straight up for Billups?

McDyess
I thought about him. $6.3M in 2007/2008 but he doesn’t appear to be under contract anymore. But he’s older than I am. Not really adding much to the roster unless he comes over in free agency for a song.
Mmmmm ... Guinness
Prince
Would be nice… Almost like Marion…in some respects…kinda look the same. We were supposed to have Prince anyway but we took Casey Jacobsen in that draft ahead of him.

We don’t need Billups, and Rip/Stuckey/Amir/McDyess seem like they’re most likely to stay.
That leaves Prince and ‘Sheed. I’d love to get either one for Barbosa+15. I know the concern about Wallace is his attitude, but he usually plays well when he changes venue, and if he acts up, he expires anyway. We can even play him at the 3 from time to time for a big lineup. Sheed would be the easiest to maintain; he’s worn out his welcome in Detroit.
I’m ‘Meh” on Prince…I’d much rather go after Gerald Wallace.
The entire finals...
The announcers talked about Detroit wanting Prince to be their number one, and building around him.

sheed and RIp
i think that the sun show trade both diaw and barbose cause on some night they are a no show .they are rea;;y getting pay all that money for nothing.SHeed and rip would be a great addition to this team. The starting five could be
C. SHAQ
F. amare
F.sheed
G. RIP
G nash
how bad would that starting five will be and get a couple of good deeson free agency man the suns will be off the chain.
Would Detroit do that?
I have always wanted Hamilton. He ws my pick to draft in the /Matrix draft, but the Wiz selected him. If Sheed’s head is straight, I would do this. But I can’t figure out why Detroit would do it.

Melo to Hockeytown
I heard a rumor that Denver is done with Anthony and are looking for a Billups-Anthony trade.
Sheed’s head is not straight and will never get there.
Hamilton’s not going anywhere.

Vinny Del Negro
=)
I’m a bit surprised by that one.

My Cousin Vvinny
They sure got ripped – Collins and D’Antoni and now VDN. I must confess, I never imagined him as a coach. At least our guy has some experience! I can imagine the outcry in the Second City.

I laughed when I heard Collins backed out.
Before he did, the pape’s all noted he was notorious for backing out of stuff.
LOL

Oh wait, this is Detroit not Chicago?
LOL my bad.
I’m not a big fan of rip’s game, but I take anyone else they want to give up.
The only player that meets Dumars’ toughness requirement, however, is Bell, and he comes pretty cheap.
So I don’t see any deals imminent.
