Summer League Much?

ed note: Bumping up to the front page as our unofficial Summer League game thread. -TS

Kinda surprised that no one has a post going for the Suns first summer league game against the Rockets.  Of course the Summer League rarely tells us anything at all, in fact I think the Knicks went undefeated last year in Vegas and that didnt do them any good when it mattered.

Overall though I'm curious to see whether or not DJ and Tucker have developed any outside shooting and look forward seeing what Lopez looks like on the floor.  Hell we might actually get to see these rooks play this year unlike last, and yes I still consider Tucker and DJ rooks since they hardly had more than a couple min. of playing time for the scant amount of games they were in.

I believe you can watch the game streaming on NBA.com, if not there is always the box score to follow.

I thought Phx Stan has it?

I wrote way too much about the summer league last year, but decided to leave it to Stan this year since it sounds like he’s going to actually be there in Vegas. But yes, you should be able to watch the games on NBA.com. Here’s the link: http://www.nba.com/summerleague2008/index.html

Haha...

Our broadcast is ghetto. No announcers and the scoreboards reversed.

I wanted them to draft Greene.

And dude’s tearing it up…

Meanwhile, aside from a block and a good dunk, Lopez looks slow on D and limited on O….plus he has a large total of 5 rebounds in 31 mins.

Meh.

Caught the last 20 seconds or so

Got back just in time to see a one-point lead turn into a three-point loss in the closing seconds, courtesy in part to a silly offensive foul by Alando Tucker. Didn’t see enough of the game to properly evaluate anyone other than that.

Summer League Fun

Hey guys – sorry I have been MIA on this so far. I am trying to get a weeks worth of work done in 3 days so I can blow this popsicle stand and head up to Vegas on Thursday for 4 straight days of non-stop blogging, basketball and maybe a little booze.

BTW

Lopez looking solid tonight

Recurring theme

I just now got my laptop hooked up to the TV. So far it’s been the Alando Tucker show—at least in as much as I’ve seen of the game (last few minutes of the second quarter).

Tucker

He’s been really solid in the second quarter from what i saw. DJ and Lopez have been pretty good too.

Yep

And it looks like maybe his rebounding is better too. I can’t find an online boxscore of the game – any idea how many he’s scored so far? He might be gunning for Marcus Banks’ record tonight.

Awesome - thanks!

Only 22 points for Tucker? He must have scored every one of them in the short time I’ve been watching. Seems like every trip down the floor it’s “ALAAAANDO TUCKER!”

BTW, the broadcasts are much MUCH better this year than last year looks like. Last year, some of the games looked like somebody was filming them with a hand-held camcorder.

like i said

he came to life in the 2nd Quarter

wierd hook by Lopez

Man it seems so far that his O is really underrated. As far as what I’ve seen in the Summer league that is

"Yeah I could have been king, but maybe I already am king. Hail to the king baby." Ash from Army of Darkness

likin Lopez

so far so good. I cant wait to see how he reacts to the real deal

If he can come off the bench for 10+ a game and score at least 6pts then i’ll be a happy camper. Of course God only knows what the rotation will be like for him, so we’ll see

"Yeah I could have been king, but maybe I already am king. Hail to the king baby." Ash from Army of Darkness

The announcer is having fun...

Bye-bye broadcast?

Looks like it shut down. Oh well, I need to be winding down for the evening anyway due to early workday tomorrow. ‘Night.

From what I can glean from the first couple of games in the SL, it appears that

DJ and Alando don’t have much more to gain from SL and DL competition

Robin Lopez is encouraging

Jerryd Bayless is playing like Dwyane Wade, and the SL competitio can only foul him (wish Barbs could learn to take it to the hole and draw fouls like that)

Kevin Love is having no trouble

Joe Alexander seems to be having trouble getting untracked
