robin lopez to usa team!!....practice...team...:-)

Link to article Wow, this looks really good. My favorite quote.... "he two rising stars were selected after stellar performances in the 2008 NBA Summer League". Drago looks more and more like another year away though....first he said he wanted to play for the suns...then he said he wants to play there....please don't be a flake....and here are a few more words to reach 75......go see hellboy 2 and batman, both really good..

I feel vindicated

I was thinking I was just being a homer in my opinion of how great he played.

I tell you this – Suns fans are going to LOVE him. Start growing your hair now.

Hmmm...

I didn’t consider this such a big thing… Robin has been solid, but stellar?

I wonder how much sense it makes to take college players, throw them into Summer league and get their head full of NBA rules and style of play, then throw them in as the Washington Generals versus TEAM USA with International Rules, and then have them come back and continue learning NBA rules again.

Sounds like a lot of wear and tear, mental rework for not much benefit.

Wondering what the skip-2-my-loo to do next with my empty summer

it's early of course

I’m not saying he’s going to become an all star or anything yet, but its a step in the right direction, thats for sure, plus he’s not 35,

sure agree with your comments on the nba vs the international…wear and tear thoughts….i think it’ll really help him or wear him out, my guess is the first, we’ll see.

Its a practice squad

As I understand this the select team is a practice squad that will only really play with the main US team this week. The experience Robin gets battling Dwight Howard and Chris Bosch will only help him as a player and as Kerr noted in the EV Trib article, Robin needs to work on his conditioning anyway.

As for being picked, the fact that he and Love are the only rookie big men selected is nothing but a good sign especially considering the other big men that could have been chosen. Like Brook for example who was in Vegas watching his brother play all week.

i sure would

mixing seeing different teams from all over the world and doing what you love to do, and playing with some top nba young players and coaches, too much too gain I think, but…..on the other hand, I do think it hurt amare some, and I’m glad he (Amare) decided against doing that team for this round.

The nba needs to focus on having fun once in a while, I’d love to see 5 games a yr where they play hard, but do something silly, like one game where all the suns players have fake goatees that look like skinners, or one game where they all wear hair like lopez’s (big perm/afro). One game where you have 4 players and your mascot, one game with 1 wife of any player….etc etc

never happen, but if done right, could be fun

Final thought on Lopez, we’re going to see how tough he really is, with all that banging etc, we’ll see how he holds up, injury is my biggest concern with the international play

No international play

He’s not going to be playing with the US Team in international play. He will only be playing against the US Men’s team for this one week period.
