Thank the Basketball Gods for the LA Clippers

Replacing Cory Maggette with Ricky Davis is just a thing of beauty but the best part is how the eternal optimists known as Clippers Fans are finding the good in the situation....

he's cheap...he's killed the Clips in the past...he's cheap....he's a chucklehead but he's ours....he's cheap

Is anyone else as happy to have this picture gracing our front page as me? It makes me smile every time I see this....

Did I mention he’s cheap?

Clippers fans

Some day I want to do a Q&A with ClipperSteve and his band of followers.

I have real and genuine questions about the make-up of a Clippers Fan. I mean this in a serious study of human behavior kind of way and not as a put-down to Clippers Fans.

I am truly fascinated by what it takes to follow that team in that town. Its really a unique situation in sports fan paradigms..I have my theories and would like to test them in a highly un-empirical manner

LOL
He was ready to attempt a shot at the wrong basket to get his 10th rebound.

I had no idea he had tried to do this…LMAO

Oh by the way

Did you look at the scores from that day?

Mavericks 129, Kings 123, OT

At Sacramento, Calif., Steve Nash hit a game-tying 3-pointer with 2.5 seconds left in regulation, then scored 12 points in overtime to help the Mavericks avoid being swept in the season series.

Nash finished with 27 points and 10 assists as the Mavericks got their league-high 50th victory. Dirk Nowitzki had 34 points and 18 rebounds, and Michael Finley scored 21 points

That guy Nash…maybe we should try to get him…

This has to be my favorite reaction to the story

From the comment section of the above-referenced ClipsNation blog:

Ricky is a good fit
And you are correct, he has never been a "cancer" to a team.

When you think about it...

...the Clips are very much spiritual cousins of the Suns in the sense that they’ve been around almost as long (1970) and have never touched the O’Brien. But then there’s that whole doing well in the regular season thing.

As an LA resident, the Clips are sort of my #2 behind the Suns. A very, very distant 2, but it’s nice to cheer for the underdog.

Sports teams for sadomasochists

See, I figure true Clippers fans really hate their mothers. I am thinking that you have to have some deep seeded sadomasochistic tenancies to root for a bad team year after year and not have the home town excuse like Bucks or AZ Cardinals fans do.

I mean if you are a LA homer and you have a choice then clearly you pick the Lakers right?

There’s not even the geography excuse like w/ the Mets and Yankees where Brooklyn people are Mets fans and Brox people are Yankees fans and Manhattan people are bandwagon fans (I was born in Brooklyn btw and my Grandfather lived in Flushing blocks from Shea and had season tickets from opening day 1962 to 1977 when he moved to Phx). Go Mets Go.

So what really makes a Clippers fan?

Contrarianism? Comedic tendancies?

No. It has to be sadomasochism related to some sort of childhood parenting trauma. And if you think about, that makes the Ricky Davis deal much more understandable.
