Really? Again?
Still looking for a short-term solution to their lack of shooters, the Suns are taking a second shot at coaxing Brent Barry to Phoenix.

Yikes!
You can’t be telling me there aren’t two promising youngsters who wouldn’t make better additions than either Brent Barry or Darius Miles. Brent Barry = Grant Hill’s Injury Risk – Phenomenal Potential.

Meh. I really hate this time of year. Searching for something to be excited about, yet all that’s tangible is Brent Barry and Tyronn Lue. Time to find a new hobby.
This was an interesting headline though. Gotta love the Tribune.
It's the Arizona talking, really.

Damn that was mean...
Back to Basketball: about Barry…well he really played well during the Spurs-Lakers series. But I wouldn’t sign him.

Off-Season looking good so far for the Suns
Not sure if Brent Barry would help or hurt the Suns (probably help a bit), but so far things are looking pretty good for the Suns. How so, you ask?
Spurs do not get Maggette.
Clippers lose Brand
Warriors lose Baron
Miami gets Junior Jones
Artest fails to opt out
Losing Baron sends the Warriors back down into the depths from whence they came, and Maggette going there isn’t going to change that, but it does keep the Spurs from adding a dynamic scorer. Elton Brand’s departure to Philly means the Clippers will be a weaker one-man show than they have been before. Believe it or not, the Trailblazers win/loss margin was much higher with James Jones playing than when he missed games with injury.
Ron Artest failed to realize that the difference between his current contract, and a mid-level exception (which the Lakers would gladly have offered him) was likely less than $1 million, and thus he will remain in Sacrmento, going nowhere, while the Lakers do not get to add one of the better defensive players in the league.
The Clippers may be able to replace Brand with Okafor or Josh Smith, but neither one of those combos will be as potent as they could have been.
The Suns aren’t improving their roster, but other teams in the West are either getting weaker or maintaining status quo…

Stepping Back
Al Bundy once explained that stepping forward isn’t always the key. Standing still while others step back might just work in your favor.
