A dissection of what is going on with the Dragon
Edit 2:06pm- Thesite changed it to "Suns sign Goran Dragic to back up Nash." to "Suns [ready to] sign Goran Dragic to back up Nash"
Haven't seen this anywhere else yet, So...
"After much wrangling, more than a few doubts and some international diplomacy, the Suns finally have landed the player they expect to be Steve Nash's backup this year. A source confirmed to Sporting News that Slovenian point guard Goran Dragic -- whose rights were acquired in June in a draft-night trade with the Spurs -- will sign a multi-year contract of at least three years and will play in Phoenix next year..."

I hope this is true, even if Goran doesn't turn out to be the next big point guard, because it's a sign our front office can get things done.

Looks likely
Right after I record a new episode of Run N Gun Podcast, talking about the backup PG situation and what Pargo could bring to the team, this news breaks! Argh!
Goran Dragic moved one step closer to joining the Suns on Wednesday, when a Slovenian court settled a dispute over how much of Dragic’s potential buyout two different European teams would receive.
Dragic has stated repeatedly that he is going to remain with his current team, Tau Ceramica, for one more season. Suns GM Steve Kerr, however, is still hoping that Dragic will join the team in time for training camp. The Suns reportedly have interest in point guards Jannero Pargo and Damon Stoudamire, but would prefer to install Dragic as Steve Nash’s backup this season, rather than next.

Who is Goran Dragic?
From wikpedia:
Goran Dragić (born May 6, 1986 in Ljubljana, SR Slovenia, SFR Yugoslavia) is a Slovenian professional basketball player. He is 190 cm tall and currently plays for Union Olimpija (Slovenia) as a loaned player by TAU Ceramica. Along with his brother Radoslav, he manages a successful cigar and tobacco shop located in Ljubljana.
2007-08 AVG Stats (13 games):
27.32 MPG
9.7 PTS
60.9% FG (2PT)
27.3% FG (3PT)
70.8% FT
3.1 AST
1.2 ST
2.5 TO
His high point game was 22 against Siena, his high point in assist, 5 the last game of the season. Goran played for Slovenia in the 2007 FIBA Championships, his team beat France and won 7th place.
In “Euro Basket ’07”, Goran played 9 games and ended up averaging 5.4 pts, 3.8 RB, and 2.1 AS per game. I think he ended up getting injured in the last game.
Some further info from his player profile:
“Goran Dragic was one of the great revelations of the 2005-06 season. He was still just a teenager when he started his professional career and only a few very well informed basketball fans knew of him. But in the spring of 2006, Goran was one of the best players of the Adriatic League, finishing as the number two scorer with 15.2 points per game and was suddenly a legitimate candidate for the senior National Team even though he never played with them in an official competition. His next step was to sign a contract with Tau Ceramica Vitoria, but only after a Slovenian court gave him permission to move abroad as Slovan refused to release his "letter of clearance”. Tau, which had plenty of guards on its roster, lent him to Murcia where he had some problems adjusting and struggled with injuries averaging 4.6 points and 1.7 assists per game, though he was playing better towards the end of the season dropping 17 points on Joventut in just 18 minutes."

Dragic coming to Suns
The Arizona Republic is reporting that the Suns second-round draft pick Goran Dragic reached a buyout agreement with Spanish club Tau Ceramica and is en route to Phoenix to sign a contract to play for the Suns this season.
Dragic ended more than seven weeks of negotiations with the Spanish club by signing a buyout agreement Saturday night, his agent, Rade Filipovich, told The Arizona Republic on Sunday. Dragic is on his way to Phoenix with a verbal agreement that he will sign a four-year contract early this week with the Suns, Filipovich said. The deal’s fourth year will be a team option.
