USA! USA!
I personally got far more joy watching this team win knowing that an Olympic gold is truly the pinnacle of their career.
But you can't help but be thrilled with the NBA stars victory over a tough and resilient Spanish team. The boys in red, white and blue celebrated like college kids and at that point you knew how much it meant to these guys.
Congrats to Kobe for going Kobe in the 4th when it mattered.
Congrats to Flash for coming back with a vengeance and reminding us how great you are.
Congrats to LeBron for being the best all around player in the universe.
Congrats to Jerry C for putting this team together and instilling in them the pride and desire needed to win.
and because I am a cynical bastard - congrats to Dwight Howard for not being the best center in the tournament and for Shaq-like free throw shooting. I am sure the Magic fans are thrilled right now.
Btw - I wonder how Amare felt watching last night?

the game
that was a lot of fun watching that game, spain really made it interesting. That 17yr old point guard was pretty awesome, great shooting by so many spain players, good thing the usa woke up and shot well also. Gasol was great, wade won this game for them, no matter what they say about kobe. If kobe hadn’t missed so many shots early, it would’ve been a different game.
I also wondered what Amare was feeling watching this, this usa team (as you said) celebrated like kids, they were so happy! Very cool!! I can understand though why amare didn’t play, with the injury and the suns not winning the championship, still, I would’ve jumped at the chance to play, especially to win back the title….
You know……new developments in the world…..I’d say soccer was the largest sport (most popular) world wide in the 90’s and some of this decade, but with basketball so big now in china (1.2 billion+) and in europe and the usa…i wonder if it’s moving into the #1 slot? Just a thought..
With Nash, as much as I like the guy I’m glad he wasn’t playing for canada in the olympics, of course I don’t think they made the olympics anyways…but you get the idea….
(thinking of yao, ginobili (injury)…etc).
did I mention Wade was awesome?
Howard (as phxsun said above) shot free throws as poorly as shaq did/does/and will.
Nice to see this pay off for colangelo

Great game!
My favorite part though was the dunk by Rudy Fernandez. The Trail Blazers are so lucky to have gotten him! I also truly enjoyed watching D. Wade swiftly steal the ball a few times from Spain. USA! USA!

yeah...
that was an awesome dunk! I wonder if the nba and the usa team would benefit by slowly changing some of their rules to match international rules, that’d clearly help the usa team.
One final point, i sure felt d’antoni’s presence with the fast, fun offense.

I couldn’t get over Juan Carlos Navarro going all Jeff Hornacek with those runners and floaters! I had no idea…

thank you guys
I think this move may be worse than the Kurt Thomas giveaway, but the Deng/Iguodala pick still wins it.
