Thanks to Ballerblogger for this trip down memory lane....
On May 15th, 2005, Steve Nash scored a career-high 48 points against the Dallas Mavericks. Nash shot 20-of-28 from the field, 4-of-6 from the three-point line, and 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
I am guessing we aren't going to see this kind of outburst again, but boy was this an amazing performance!

At about the 2:20 mark, the look on Avery Johnson’s face is priceless.
At least based on those highlights, it looked like Nash’s points were not coming in transition. No one in their right minds goes under screens when he’s running the screen-and-roll (which Avery did), so he may not score as much but I feel pretty good about him in the half-court.
I think a return the tangled mane may be the thing to put the Suns over the top this year.
I also like the mirror-image thing, because I’ve always been pretty sure that Nash could shoot left-handed.
Mmmmm ... Guinness
I love Collins
saying “they want to make Nash a jump shooter. They will live with that.” Uh, nope. They didn’t live with it…

Umm...
Didn’t the Suns lose that game? Or am I mis-remembering?
I was more impressed with the three-pointer he hit in the next game of that series that sent the Mavericks home. Not to mention the 10 points in 55 seconds or whatever it was at the end of that regular season game against the Mavericks in 2007. Hmm… Starting to see a recurring theme here. He can say what he wants about no hard feelings. He clearly loves sticking it to Cuban every chance he gets.
OK...
So I should have actually watched the video before replying. The 48 was in Game 3 not Game 5, I guess. Still, the Suns didn’t win, so I still like the other performances better. :)
BTW, Nash’s assist (23 against the Lakers in 2007) and scoring highs were both set in the playoffs.
It cracks me up how he shoots.
No one is around but he still has to fall on the ground to get separation.
No one he never gets a call. He got those 48 without going to the foul line much!
Amare is moving.
Man, that was a great game.
The outcome sucked, but my dad and I were hard-pressed to be too upset afterwards because of the ridiculous performance we’d just witnessed. That was probably one of the best losses I’ve ever watched.
i remember this game
easily one of the best single efforts i have ever witnessed. you guys are lucky to have a feller like him on your squad.
i got your coach.
