I love the Hawks.

I hate what they did to us.  I hate their twisted management.  But I love their matchups against the Boston Celtics.  David and Goliath.  I'm rooting for David.  The East is relevant.  The East is exciting.  And the Hawks are apart of that.

The Vegas oddsmakers and ESPN's accuview (78% chance of win) lay us as heavy  favorites especially with Al Horford being out.  The once defensive Hawks have let down in the past three games.

Finally an answer for Joe Johnson.

Although Jason Richardson isn't necessarily the same player Joe Johnson is, I feel like he brings a quality that we missed when we lost JJ.  Jason has the size, power and ability to create that we lost years ago.  He also costs about the same, but is shooting a better percentage from 3 than JJ.

KTAR Audio

Joe Johnson, Steve Nash, Terry Porter

Nash says we miss JJ as the backup point guard and that JR doesn't make up for that.  No offense, LB.

What is up with defense by charges?

Dear Steve Kerr

Dear Steve Kerr,

Please let the Nash trade rumors be false. Yes, I know that you are determined to put your stamp on this franchise, but you don’t have to get rid of everyone to do so. Yes, Nash’s numbers are down this year, but the team doesn’t run without him.

Are you going to change our colors yet, or our uniforms? Maybe we should change the team name to the Stephen Douglas Kerrs.

Oh, but you can let them have Lopez and Barbosa.

Thanks.

I miss Joe I miss Joe I miss Joe I miss Joe let’s trade Nash for Joe!

Hopefully we can pull another win together and try and move up the ranks a little bit.

Steve Nash trade talk is stupid.

by bangbang240 on Jan 13, 2009 5:59 PM MST reply actions   0 recs

Totally true. Maybe we don’t win it all this year but we have a chance, a very good chance at that. And unless we trade Nash for Lebron or Kobe, there’s no way we win. We’ll just be setting ourselves back, trying once again to get all the pieces to play together like a team. In Shaq we must trust, and in Nash we must trust, and in Amare we must trust not to screw up.

Take care of the little things, and the big things will take care of themselves.

by SunDolphin on Jan 13, 2009 6:15 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

I said

at the beginning of the season when there was talk about trading Nash that it only made sense if the Suns weren’t in it at all this season.

We are in it. And we are improving. Trading any of our starters at this point is a big step back.

Even trading LB is becoming less and less attractive but that’s the only guy that might could go but ONLY for a very good deal

by Phoenix Stan on Jan 13, 2009 6:20 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

It seems.

Like LB is doing better and better as the games roll by.

by STUCK IN LA on Jan 13, 2009 6:25 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

Absolutely

I don’t want to trade him b/c I don’t like him. I do.

But we need a true backup PG and/or a vet back up center. I think Tuck can move into back up SG spot plus Hill and play the 2 so LB is the only movable trade bait we have to fill our other holes.

by Phoenix Stan on Jan 13, 2009 6:27 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

I have reason to hate the Hawks

Nobody ever mentions how we could have had Al Horford instead of the Hawks if the pick in "06 fell one more spot. I really feel we got jobbed in the Joe Johnson trade. I mean we basically traded Joe Johnson for Robin Lopez!!! I am an optimist and all but, I do see why so many people think Lopez will be servicable. I say if this is the last hurrah…go down swinging….trade Lopez and Dragic for something good like a bag of skittles.

by ron_dasun on Jan 13, 2009 6:11 PM MST reply actions   0 recs

and JRich

We got JRich b/c we had Boris and Bell who we got b/c we lost JJ….

by Phoenix Stan on Jan 13, 2009 6:15 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

I really like Jrich,

He was going off during the clips game. I want to see more time for “scrappy lou” tonight and hopefully Barnes finds his missing shot too.

by STUCK IN LA on Jan 13, 2009 6:19 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

JRich and Fropez for JJ is a way better trade than Diaw and a first round pick we can use, but not for ten years, and only then if the Hawks have a winning season. It feels that way.

Stan, can you give Kerr a point or two for reversing some of D’antoni’s brainlessness charity?

Take care of the little things, and the big things will take care of themselves.

He's already

got Genius points for JRich

by Phoenix Stan on Jan 13, 2009 7:47 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

Good Points

but look at this lineup
C-Al Horford
PF- Amare
SF-Marion (no need for Shaq with horford in tow)
SG-Barnes/ Hill/ Barbs (JRich is nice though)
PG-Nash

Does he

deserve to be boo’d by the home crowd tonight?

I don’t think so. It’s been long enough.

by Phoenix Stan on Jan 13, 2009 6:30 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

Nooo

I still don’t fully understand his reasons for wanting to go and to all places ATLANTA but, I wasn’t in the locker room with those guys, but on the court the Suns had the makings of a great team if not a dynasty. I think he shouldn’t be boo’d Stan…the grown man in me says its “water under the bridge” and just move on, but the rabid Suns fan in me says boo that team wrecker…haha

I agree with Stan, Barbosa is really starting to come on and it’d be dumb to trade him at this point. He almost seems to be doing better under Porter now than he ever did with D’antoni.

that conversation w/ my daughter’s 6th grade teacher.

“She’s so bright she should be getting A’s. She’s not putting in the effort. She seems bored and disinterested”

I am raising a little mini-Ms Amare. Lord help me.

Anyway – back from parent / teach meeting. Starting the game from tip via Tivo.

I really don’t know how I lived before Tivo/DVR. Life was sadder then.

by Phoenix Stan on Jan 13, 2009 7:50 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

I couldn’t have said it better. He’s got the phyiscal body to dominate just about everyone in the league, and should be pulling down 15 boards a night, if only he’d try. He COULD be a 30 and 10 guy if only he’d TRY. But he doesn’t try. He goes out there and gives half effort, which is full effort for most players (poor Lou, if only he could put it on cruise control once in a while).

He’s not being CHALLENGED enough. I know it’s only the regular season, but it sure is dissapointing all the same.

He never got the shot off, was called for traveling. But it’s so subjective with the refs. I see players touching the ball all the time after they make a dunk or a layup. They usually throw it against that blue foam gaurding the basket at the baseline. But whatever.

its weird

they can grab it and toss it to the ref or lightly toss it towards the blue foam. But if they actually stop motion of game then they get a delay of game “warning.” If it happens again its a tehnical foul.

That clears a lot up. I guess it makes sense. They’re moving the ball off the court so no referees will trip over it.

We have the game, shooting free throws, up 6. 15 seconds left.

Winning is all that matters

I’d rather win a championship with Amare coming off the bench and getting 10 minutes a game than get knocked out of the playoffs again (or not make them at all).

But to be more positive

His statistics may be dropping, but he can still make all the plays. It’s all in his head. I’ll be confident and say when the playoffs come, he’ll snap out of it. Maybe Iverson has his thing with practicing, and Stat has his thing for playing the regular season?

If Kerr trades Nash and LB this season

I’ll hate him for the rest of my life. Nash is so F*cking clutch.

Josh Smith

Why is it that we always make him look like a superstar, and he averages 13 and 7 against the rest of the league?

JJ...

goes 4-21 from the field. Was that Richardson’s defense? I didn’t see the game.

Jrich played him pretty good

Hill logged a lot of minutes on him too. It was a huge team effort though, it was great to watch. Every time he ran through a screen help was there and there were nice doubles down the stretch, great effort from everybody.

Shaq too

Jumped out on those screens and trapped him well. Really great work mostly by Hill

Amare?

When was the last time Amare carried this team? Just imagine if he could stay on the floor for 40 minutes and find a way to play some D. Man is it frustrating watching him play right now b/c you know he can do it….grrr. And I know we all love Pony Boy for his hustle but he’s barley good enough to be a back up. If we need more then 20minute from him at the four….not good. I really worry about the Suns front court depth and especially until Amare get’s his act together.

The bright side (get it?) is how much better this team still can be.

D was solid mostly by Grant and Shaq and the Suns interior passing is getting fantastic.

The post entry passing problems are gone.

Too many TO’s. Too many 2nd chance points.

5 assists

He had 5 assists and hit a clutch shot down the stretch.

That’s not exactly carrying team, especially when he didn’t box out on the last two Hawks’ shots allowing them to get purbacks, but it showed some quality.

He’s still a clutch scorer. The Bulls became a championship team when Jordan stopped being the primarily (read as "only") scorer and became a clutch scorer. Amare’s no MJ but the point is that if he comes through in the clutch (as he can if he doesn’t foul out), the Suns have a lot of other players to get the game into the 4th quarter. Pretty good passing out of the high post, too.

I know it’s not basket “quanitity” but basket “quality” but Jordan played defense too. Stat needs to learn how to play basketball again. He can do it! He’s so close!
