Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

J-Rich got pulled over Dec. 21 under suspicion of driving under the influence. I think he was on his way to meet Sir Charles.

His not a role model

Teaching JSuns 2 and 3 about conduct and not besmirching the JSun legacy, are we?

No, just until he's acquitted

Let’s give his attorneys a chance

On the radio

they are making a GREAT point about why this kind of thing is “not a big dead” compared to other stuff atheletes do like beat their wives, etc.

Have to agree to that. I am having a fairly meh reaction to this news. Doesn’t really change my thoughts on JRich. Of course I didn’t “know” him well.

I know DUI is bad. REALLY BAD

But still, seems like the kind of thing that could happen to anyone. Doesn’t change how I think of him nor would it change how I felt about Nash or Amare. Unless its repeated and/or they hit someone like Melo did.

whitewashing. Come on.

Richardson is getting support b/c he’s still in the honeymoon period when fans think he will solve all the suns problems. If he weren’t new and the suns weren’t doing better, it would be “off with his head!” and rightly so.

Radio personalities making light of DUIs to do so really is weak. No one who I know with a DUI has ever received any sympathy or understanding. It’s just damn irresponsible, especially for someone who has resources and probably backup girls to boot.

Speaking of which, I consider it conduct detrimental to the team, like Monta Ellis on a freaking moped or Radmanovich on a snowboard. Drunk driving is the kind of high risk behavior that could have put a quick end to an otherwise good trade. Can you imagine the Suns sans Jason Richardson?

All true

but I still can’t get worked up…btw the radio guys were making your point and calling out folks like me that don’t get fired over this.

Oh – and does Kerr get a Moron Point for this? I think so.

by Seth Pollack on Jan 5, 2009 7:33 PM MST up reply actions

I don't blame Kerr for what Jason did.

However, I will if he doesn’t hit Jason with conduct detrimental to the team if a conviction (of any kind) is delivered.

In my mind it is no different than Ellis or Radman’s stupidity, except it was not only dangerous to Suns fandom, but also to anyone else stupid/unlucky enough to be on the road with Jason.

I make 14 million a year. I probably have an entourage. I probably have girls and backup girls. I think I’ll try to get myself home after a few drinks all by myself.

You misunderstand

the Moron Meter…he gets credit if JRich hits a big shot or makes a huge dunk. He gets credit when Shaq is hitting his tosses. He gets blamed when JRich does Chuckster.

That’s it, I’m convinced. Moron Point awarded.

Any one of the phoenix based fans...

…would have gave you a ride home Jrich! There is also THIS

by STUCK IN LA on Jan 5, 2009 3:43 PM MST reply actions

no kidding.

We need a “protect our Suns” carpool shuttle service around the clock for every player 24-7. It will be volunteer service. Hot girls preferred. Apply online in this thread if you would like to volunteer and “Shuttle-a-Sun”.

Hot Sober Women Driving Drunken Professional Atheletes?

Um, probably a bad idea.

I was just thinking about this the other day when I heard about Barkley…You got tons of money (assuming Barkley hasn’t gambled it all away) why not hire a driver or something?…And for the younger athletes, I would certainly have some sort of entourage to handle security, driving, picking up chicks, etc…Anyone new to AZ that likes to party will learn very quickly that the cops are EVERYWHERE here waiting to bust you.
