Why is this not being done?
Starters
C - Channing Frye (plays his best statistically at the 5)
PF- Amar'e Stoudemire
SF-Jared Dudley (proven himself as a great complement and is a great steal man)
SG- Jason Richerson
PG- Steve Nash
Bench
C - Sign FA & Robin Lopez when he is back
PF- Sweet Lu & Earl Clark
SF- Grant Hill & Earl Clark
SG- Alando Tucker & Grant Hill
PG- Via trade our future PG or at least top of line back up and draft pick (explained below)
TRADE BARBOSA! his trade value just gets a lil lower each year..... teams are hyped on him still for some un-godly reason......too small and no defense for the 2 and no pg ability trade him for a real PG that is a replacement for nash...or a decent backup and a draft pick
leave your thoughts!

I can already see a reaction: NOOOOOO you must START LB or the universe shall exploooodeeeee!
seriously though: no. If we trade LB for anything it should be a decent enough big. I say keep Dickau and let him and Sir Dragic handle Backup PG duties. Barbosa is good in our system. Look at what happened to Marion: went from invaluable part to mediocre-to-slightly above average player. keep Barbosa. or trade him for a big who is very good defensively and can at least hit a shot or two every game
Libertarianism is just Anarchy for rich people
I'd trade for a big
I love Barbosa. I would trade him for a good big. One of the cardinal rules I’ve heard from NBA types (Doug Collins I believe) is that you don’t trade big for small.
If someone was willing to trade a David Lee calibur guy I’d do it as much as I love Barbs. There is no other 1,2,3 that would be worthwhile to trade Barbosa for as far as a straight up trade.
If you get rid of Barbosa...
The bench becomes a crew with mediocre defense and poor offense, which would then cause Gentry to revert back to D’Antoni’s old habits – only going 2 or 3 deep. I don’t see this happening by any stretch of the imagination.
First off, Dragic is not dead yet. Remember, he was a rookie last year. He is sucking now, but that doesn’t mean he won’t turn the corner.
Also sucking now is Alando Tucker. Imagine the dropoff in production when you replace Barbosa with Tucker. Barbosa is a much better athlete, shooter, he is quicker and he can play point in a pinch. Tucker is an unknown commodity due to his injuries, but let’s face it, if he was Kobe, we’d know it by now.
Sorry, Grant is a starter until he says he isn’t. He is old, his body gets warmed up and he has to play. He can’t just sit and come in cold again. Won’t work.
I sense the FO is balking at signing a big for two reasons-the cost, and there probably aren’t many good alternatives out there. May be best to dangle in the wind for a couple months and let Lopez heal, especially if Clark can do what Lopez does (which is not a given).
So where can we get equal value for Barbosa? Who do you have in mind? I agree that Barbosa has limitations, isn’t a PG and is too small to guard the big 2’s in the league. Still, he has upside and he can score. With what you’ve done, you’ve made the second unit pretty bad. You lost the best scoring threat we had in Barbosa and replaced him with ?, you’ve put Tucker on the court, which he certainly doesn’t deserve right now, and you’ve put Clark in a position where he has to score, which is clearly not ideal based on what we’ve seen thus far in preseason.
Lastly, it could be that J-Dudz is ready to start, however it could be that he isn’t. Looking at a reserve who is playing well and concluding that he can start and play well based on his bench play isn’t completely sound logic. And, you’d probably piss off Grant Hill in the process….Just my two cents
