Predicted Player of the Game (PPOG)
In a new feature that we will try and remember to do before every game, we will predict who the POG will be. Anyone can name the POG after the game but only here at Bright Side of the Suns will we tell you who it is before the game.
Our first ever PPOG is...
This isn't a very hard choice given that the 6' 11.5" Channing will be "checked" by the 6'6" Chuck Hayes. In addition to Frye's size advantage in the paint, the pace of the game should allow for plenty of open three's.

It really makes a difference.
I don’t know how “accurate” SBN is for showing how good fans are for any given team, but you’ve got to wonder about the state of some of these teams. I’m proud to say the Dolphins, Braves, and Suns blogs are VERY active. Other teams, not so much.

I played against Argentinian players
When I played in the National Team. That was 5 years ago and they all flop. I think coaches teach that over there.

in all seriousness…i think coaches would teach it over there. i reckon Pop and the Spurs practice it alot too and their “OMG DID U JUST CALL A FOUL AGAINST ME FOR PULLING HIS JUMPER? – COZ I DID IT BUT YOU JUST WERENT MEANT TO SEE” expressions after they get foul calls against them

These Rockets came out hot NO DOUBT because they just handed a loss to the Lakers on Sunday… who blew us out… So they probably came out thinking they could take on the world. Now that we’ve come right back in their grill their confidence has to be shaken.

I think this Suns' team is different.
So far this season, it’s felt like, if the other team lets the Suns get back in it, that spells doom for the opposition. The Suns have come back and won like 5 teams already.

Gentry's subbing patterns
Hello. I try not to post in the game threads, but I’m really wondering something about Coach Gentry. I like Gentry better than his predecessor (hell, when Porter was hired, my first thought was “Why not Alvin Gentry?”), but does anyone else think Gentry’s substitution patterns are a little bit rigid and predictable? He has a habit of replacing the whole starting lineup with almost the whole bench or vice versa, and I wonder why Channing Frye doesn’t slide over to PF (when Stoudemire is out) more often. After all, Frye is no more a center than Stoudemire is; he’s a power forward pretending to be a center.

No, not really. It’s more a curiosity. But some Suns coaches have been willing to use any lineup. It seems to me that Paul Westphal was that way.

He’s rigid about Nash usually. And Hill to a certain extent, but foul trouble hasn’t given him in the way of options tonight.

he should have surgery now while the team is pumping so he’s good for playoff time. otherwise he’s gonna have a crappy season (all season) and wont be a factor in the playoffs. And we’re gonna need him. J-Rich seems to be all or nothing and when he’s giving us nothing we need to be able to sub in barbs for instant points

Nice grind'em out win
The seemed to come out flat, but the superior talent took over. Houston shot 58% in the first quarter, and coasted downward from there. This is , as we say, a real TEAM, not just a bunch of stars.

things i love about this game
1. we played incredible team defense the second half
2. 10 players played! all were involved offensively to the fact that every bench player had at least five points
3. everybody is working hard in every facet of the game. last year, if someone wasn’t having a great offensive game, the rest of their effort lagged…this year, everyone is putting effort in at all times

Stan, looks like defensive intensity and mental toughness stood out for you. That’s very encouraging. I think those two things more than anything else will tell how far we can go. Those two things : 1) defense 2) mental toughness
