Where are you from?
There's been lots of chat lately from Suns fans from all over the world. Just curious where you are from?
Take the poll. Best answer wins three peanuts...

Before here, Tucson, before there, Phoenix.
And glad to see “The Moon” is actually where people from Africa/Canada and other unlisted options are voting. That makes more sense.

Holland`
Originally from Tempe, joined the Air Force and at the moment stationed in Holland. I miss the Sun here, it doesn’t really exist. Everyday is dark and cloudy with a chance of rain. Probably the same for DukeNueco in the Uk

The worst part about being a Suns fan here is that not many people have even heard of the NBA let alone Phoenix. The BBL (british basketball league) is non-existant and absolutely NO NBA games are shown on TV (Not even the one they played in London!)
Honestly, darts is a bigger sport in the UK than basketball.

How in the world did you get stationed in Holland?
Retired USAF, people would die for Holland. Good on you.

Lucky I guess to pull Holland. As I’ve found though at all bases overseas, the local area is nice, people are great working your arsz off on the base = sux. We make it extra stressful on ourselves.

…country with most beuatiful coast and see…
l liked suns already in end ’80s with chambers and KJ… but in the finals of ’93 I rooted for MJ, sorry guys… I liked suns still but hated chuck… afterwards, with kidd-rex-kj lineup I stuck with them and became true fan until, well, now… penny was my favorite nba player already in orlando, so sad that injuries ruined his phx time… i was in phx for boston game, february 22nd ’08… just after all star break and shaq trade… we won, 85-79 I believe… even managed to sneak in 2nd row :-) …it was great…

From Brazil
I’ve been a fan since 1992, thanks to Sir Charles. Seeing Barbosa joining the team in 2003 was a sweet treat, since I used to watch him play in his teen years for Palmeiras (also the name of my favorite soccer team) and then root for him in Bauru (the city I went to college).

Currently in Mainland China
Where basketball is becoming popular (it’s all shooting out here, I am the STAT of Xiaolan pickup games), but they only show one NBA game a day. Because the Suns were pretty much left for dead before the season started, China I guess chose not to pick up many of their games. I am living in a small ass town called Xiaolan where I teach the poor farm children of the countryside. I was born and raised in Phoenix, practice my Rex Chapman miracle shot on the blacktops when I was a fat kid going to grade school at St. Gregory’s, then attended Bourgade Catholic. Graduated from ASU. Spent a horrible year in god awful Lakers territory working for some big company that paid me well but I hated it. Now I’m in exile (by choice), stuck in a communist land that can drive a man completely insane, trying to learn a few things about the world before I come home for law school. Just trying to keep updated on my favorite NBA team, so thank you Stan and the rest of Bright Side of The Sun for giving my mind some needed distractions!
Communism is killing me..........Let Freedom Ring! How I miss you oh sweet love....AMERICA!

Been following the Suns since the KJ era. Had a blast watching him, Penny, J-Kidd and Rex Chapman on the same team. Oh and that Canadian rookie they had back then, what’s the name again? :D

Been a suns fan since steve nash came to town and have been a great follower of them since the 7SOL era. They changed the way the game is being played and renewed interest at the time the lakers dynasty was falling in 2004.
Never been a fan of nash before in dallas coz i hate the mavs but never knew I would be a follower of him since he became a superstar in phoenix. simply the best point guard of today (2 MVPs, CP3, deron, rondo – 0, nuff said).
As a diehard suns fan, It bleeds me to see them have one of the best records and only to be booted out by enemy no. 1 the spurs over and over again.
Though I don’t wanna think negative, I can pretty much relate to the heartbreaking experiences of fans here, from the plenty of what-ifs (johnson wasn’t injured in 2005, amare wasn’t injured in 2006, amare and diaw not suspended in 2007) to the suns always becoming an “almost team that won the championship.”
They had their chances in 2007, but due to unavoidable circumstances (nash bleeding nose, amare and diaw getiing suspended, refs rigged the game accdg to donaghy) they just can’t seem to get over the hump.
I’m also upset with the shaq trade coz I know he can’t thrive well at the system, much more kerr’s decision to hire an inexperienced and nothing proven coach in porter, who seem to slow down the players and force the team change themselves to something they can’t be.
I understand that the past 2 years have been a tough one to be a suns fan and I’m pretty much elated now that they are rocking the west and surprising the league so far with their 10-3 record. They love running and gunning and they’re enjoying every game as if it’s their last.
What I also like about them as with the suns of the past is their resiliency and killer instinct. Time and time again, they might be down by double digits but time and again will climb back from a huge deficit and eventually win the game when it matters.
Give Coach Gentry the credit. He knows what he’s doing with this team. Trying to inspire the players to be the best they can be and improve on their weaknesses like defense. Don’t know what is it that he has that D’Antoni does not have that the players of the team respect him and listen to his instructions.
With D’Antoni, I know Dudley, Dragic and Lou will seldom see action and because of this, might be booted out later just like what happened to Strawberry.
(Just don’t like his attitude of raising the white flag though as with the ORL and LAL games, where he immediately benched the starting five when he could have thought of playing them more minutes to cut down the lead. Will never know what happens. Just ask Boston with reference to game 4 of the 2008 NBA finals.)
We really must have won in New Orleans the night before but overconfidence killed us. Anyway, as always life goes on. Just hoping that this would continue and the team improves as the playoffs come near. GO SUNS!

Wow
This is cool!
Thanks everyone for chiming in! I see a lot of new names. Hope you keep commenting more….
and since everyone is doing so….
I was born in Brooklyn, NY (Go Mets!) but moved to Phoenix w/ my family when I was two so I was raised here on late 70’s to mid 80’s Suns basketball. Walter. Buse. Ronnie Lee. Truck. Alvan. Paul…and of course Joe Proski’s hair.
I left in 1988 and was gone 11 years before coming back to Phx in 1999. I grew up on the West Side and went to Maryvale HS. Now I am a central Phx guy which is nice since I am only a few miles from USAC.
Great to hear from all the Suns fans from around the world!

From the Phoenix area - Gilbert, specifically...
…now a freshman at UA, down in Tucson. Born and raised in Chicago, moved out to Phx when I was 12. Never really identified with the Bulls, since I started to watch basketball in the post-MJ era, but became a HUGE Suns fan after the arrival of Steve Nash. I’m now hooked on everything Suns-related, and there’s no cure.
