Around SBN: Jeremy Lin Continues Rampage, New York Wins On Road

Basically a rip on the Suns from my prospective. One of the top 10 toughest schedules while remaining top 5 record wise. I would say if we have to get better than the best that's a pretty tough feat right there and i don't think that's really a question to ask. More so we should be concerned about sustainability but that's with any team.

My favorite line was this –

The Suns deserve all the applause they’re getting, and yet there’s the nagging suspicion that this is the best Phoenix can play

It’s funny how he thinks this is the best we can play (btw – our 10-3 record puts us on track to win something like 62-20 if we sustain… is there anything wrong with that being the best we can play?) while everyone on the team only talks about how we really aren’t playing to our potential yet. Amare is not fully back – LB is just starting to come around – Dragic, Clark, Amundson, and Dudley will only continue to play better – and we haven’t even played a game with Lopez dressed out yet and he’ll add another dimension (like Hill said) to our game. Whatever – I hope we prove the shmuck wrong.

No Respect.
4. Phoenix: This is no reflection on Alvin Gentry, a player’s coach. Or Nash. Or Amare. Or even Channing Frye, an early season revelation. And yes, the Suns did well on their Eastern trip, winning four of five. But they can’t keep making half their shots, can they? The ball’s gotta stop falling at some point. The Suns deserve all the applause they’re getting, and yet there’s the nagging suspicion that this is the best Phoenix can play.

I love the quote that the Suns can’t continue making half of their shots. This has been one of the best shooting teams in the NBA for years, with a FG% nearly .500. From the 04-05 season til the 07-08 season our FG% actually improved.

04-05 .477
05-06 .479
06-07 .494
07-08 .500
(thanks to NBA.com for the stats)

So my question would have to be, how is one of the most explosive offenses in the league going to be shut down permanetely for the season? I don’t see it happening. We will once again shoot around 50%, play so-so defense, and make a push for the playoffs.
