Today, Steve Nash’s annual Canadian visit might actually only be the warm-up act to the nation’s sporting event of the day. The 97th Grey Cup is this afternoon. Who you got? The Saskatchewan Roughriders, featuring ArizonaState’s Chris McKenzie, or the Montreal Allouettes. - Dragic holding his own for Suns

I think the Suns have demonstrated a clear willingness to give up shots at championships and get suspended in the name of coming to a teammate’s aid. Paul Pierce would not have gotten away with the staredown.

I think the knee was incidental. It certainly wasn't intentional.
Pierce was looking at the rim the whole time. It just so happened that as he rose he caught Bosh in the mid-section with the knee. It was under the hoop so that would never be called an offensive foul. Outside the circle sure, but under the basket, no.
mid-section?
He nailed him in the man parts
Blogging Suns Basketball . twitter: @phoenixstan
by Seth Pollack on Nov 29, 2009 1:36 PM MST up reply actions
Maybe, I'd have to watch it again.
But I still don’t think it was intentional. He just dunked right over him pure and simple.
Let’s not try to minimize it. Bosh got faced.
No, sir.
I’m not saying he intentionally kicked him down south, but he definitely intentionally kicked his leg out. There’s no reason for his leg to be extended like that except to buy him space.
And the circle under the hoop only applies to position when deciding charges/blocks. Pushing off with one’s arm (twice) and kicking out is a foul anywhere on the court.
Contributor: Bright Side of the Sun Twitter: @MikeLisboa
I saw the knee/kick, but when did he push off?
I remember a drive to the basket and a flush. Did the push come on Bosh or on another defender?
the problem wasn't the dunk
it was the posing after that his teammates should have responded to
Blogging Suns Basketball . twitter: @phoenixstan
by Seth Pollack on Nov 29, 2009 1:45 PM MST up reply actions
Both.
He has a minor push off on his defender at the free throw line and then puts is arm across Bosh’s chest/neck in mid-air.
They didn’t call it, so you know, Bosh got posterized. I’m not saying Pierce wouldn’t have embarrassed Bosh without committing those fouls, just saying that if Kobe made that same play on STAT, it would be a day that lived in infamy and held up as an obvious sign that officials hate the Suns. Just giving Bosh a fair shake.

How did Kobe come into this discussion?
I’m not saying Pierce is a saint. I’m know that like most scorers he’s skilled at making space for himself etc. And I agree that the posing was bush league, but regardless, Bosh DID get faced. I also agree that his teammates should have come to his defense. We are in agreement on that point.
Where we disagree
You say Bosh got faced. I say he got hosed. Fair enough?
I only brought in the Kobe-Amare comparison to point out that if the unis had been different, that play would be viewed very differently.

He needs this
Maybe this could be the game where he finds his rhythm. He has looked rather sketchy.
Somebody on here said it, but I dont remember who. He’s doing his thing, its just not being noticed as much. I think thats because we’re used to him in the desperate times. His 3s always seemed like clutch 3s. His blurring lay-ups always came at the end of a fast-break. Now he’s just doing it like a normal player.
If recent history holds...
This is where the Suns will go on a run and extend their lead going into the half.

On pace to hit that buck again
Having at least 100 in every game says a lot about how efficient our offense is. When some games end with scores like 78-86 or whatever, we get business taken care of.
Doesn't an 86-76 game make a team's defense look pretty good?
I’m still not buying into the whole defense thing right now. I think it’s got a lot more to do with pace than anything else. Not to mention that NO team can play shut down D all game long. It comes when it matters, in runs, just like an offensive spurt.
Fanaticism is not logical
Its def pace
Because we’re quick, we get more shots off…and making them certainly helps. When it comes to D, everyone can do what they can to hustle and know the places to position themselves. But when it comes down to it, what are we really looking for from D? The best defensive team will hold their opponent to absolute zero. Surely not happening.
Amare really
Needs to step it up on the glass. Back to looking disinterested

fun first half even though we cooled off
Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." Amare Stoudemire, when asked to comment on a 22-point third quarter against the Kings, said, "I've got a tendency to jump over some guys' heads and throw it down."
If you wanna call it that
I am not a fan of this guy at all. Its a good thing he cant score more consistently, or else I’d be super pissed with all his stupid fouls. Truly playing like a youngster, but I wonder if this guy is ever going to learn the game. Just too sloppy.
Slow your roll, Leander
Calderon clearly tried to minimize his impact with Nash once he realized he was screwed. Not a flagrant just cuz he was in the air.

any time Suns are in NY you can expect a couple of interviews from the National Media…that’s how they roll. They just wait for teams to come to town to do their thing

How does Nash make that shot?
Not only is it a nearly impossible make, but he’s practically automatic with it.
Contributor: Bright Side of the Sun Twitter: @MikeLisboa
The Suns are still struggling
w/ all these switches…
It really takes the flow of the offense away and Toronto is doing a good job bringing help…I am not sure why more teams dont do it
Blogging Suns Basketball . twitter: @phoenixstan
just when I say that
they run a beautiful play using Hill as the 3rd man to move the ball quickly and get a great open look for JRich

I am so confused...
Not only does Stoudemire have 7 boards, but the Suns are suddenly outrebounding the Raps for the game and 4 starters have at least 7 boards.
What game have I been watching?
Contributor: Bright Side of the Sun Twitter: @MikeLisboa
Grant Hill really
the difference maker on the offense right now

certainly helps when your opponent is 1-18 from 3

well it's not our fault
that they suck on 3s.
it does
but the Suns also have not doubled on Bosh so they are staying home on those shooters…but yeah – they also missed a bunch they should make

The Suns have had no answer for Bosh tonight.

I've not watched the game
but according to your comments it has been a roller coaster…
"Basketball doesn't build character. It reveals it"
Suns been in control mostly, esp the 2nd half
Bit of a scare in the 3rd qtr, raps went on a big run but the game seems to be wrapped up now.

Good thing the Suns have a day off.
Suns starters logging heavyish minutes.
Contributor: Bright Side of the Sun Twitter: @MikeLisboa
not too bad
Nash about 35…Frye w/ 38-ish but he’s young

if our coach is D'Antoni
Nash would be logging 40 and Amare would be logging 45.
I'm spoiled
by all the sub-30 games they’ve had the last few blow-outs.

but look how rusty
Nash was early in the game :)

1-5 from the field
But I’ll allow that when he’s dishing 7 1st quarter assists.
Contributor: Bright Side of the Sun Twitter: @MikeLisboa
Gentry could've taken out Nash, Amare and Hill
at the 4min mark in the 4th
not a bad analogy

blazers have looked horrible
last two games
by ArizonaCactus on Nov 29, 2009 1:30 PM MST up reply actions
no kidding
they are going to really miss Outlaw off the bench and Miller was just a bad move…they really needed to get either Milsap or Bass
Andre and Roy don’t play well together and Blake is streaky at best. They need another shooter to play w/ Brandon

that's why they inquired about trading for Nash.
good thing we didn’t do that
that would have been a HORRIBLE
fit…
Nate is too controlling and they play super slow. Nash also needs the ball as does Roy. It would have been a disaster

Love it when the home team is getting booed off the court at the end of the game
unless, of course, we are said home team
Damn
20-pt 16-ast for Nash.
Is it still too early for MVP chants?

I think this is a good win
We started well. Toronto battled back and we fought them off. Great fourth quarter defense again, and another W. 14-3 is SWEET!
Fanaticism is not logical
Really impressed w/ the 3rd qtr
Suns went flat in the 2nd and got killed on the glass but Gentry obviously fired ’em up in the locker room and they came out hard
Blogging Suns Basketball . twitter: @phoenixstan
actually
it was the 4th qtr – Suns out rebounded them 17-8 in the 4th and 7 Oreb w/ 3 for Amare. Guess he picked it up

I’d like 2 watch more live games but the time difference is about 7 hours

another win...
still need to get better on defense though… very spotty. how did we win this big? didnt see the whole game.
oh well, 14-3 me likey.
they shot 1-20
from behind the arc…that helps….a LOT

YEAH!
for the win!
however: Nash had 16 assits. great! (of course it is just another simple working day in Nashville) but: the rest of the team had a total of 6. SIX! that just plain sucks. I understand it’s the system and that J-Rich, Hill and Amare can all create their own shots… but this seems too low. and game after game, the situation is similar, I had my eye on this for a while now. shouldn’t this be a cause for concern?
Libertarianism is just Anarchy for rich people
A Win is a Win
I’m not too concerned just yet. I would think Dragic, Hill, and Richardson should be chipping in 5. I would also think if Amare is getting doubled, he should be hitting th open man for 3-4 assists a game.
