That was pretty bad—both Pierce and Bosh’s teammates. I love the Celtics franchise—enough that were I not a Suns fan, I’d be a Celtics fan—but I don’t like Paul Pierce.

I think the Suns have demonstrated a clear willingness to give up shots at championships and get suspended in the name of coming to a teammate’s aid. Paul Pierce would not have gotten away with the staredown.

I got to pick 7 teams to watch, which seems good. The other option was $149.00 for every game, which I didn’t think I’d need as much…

I think the knee was incidental. It certainly wasn't intentional.

Pierce was looking at the rim the whole time. It just so happened that as he rose he caught Bosh in the mid-section with the knee. It was under the hoop so that would never be called an offensive foul. Outside the circle sure, but under the basket, no.

by Jack Frost on Nov 29, 2009 1:35 PM MST up reply actions

mid-section?

He nailed him in the man parts

Blogging Suns Basketball . twitter: @phoenixstan

by Seth Pollack on Nov 29, 2009 1:36 PM MST up reply actions

Maybe, I'd have to watch it again.

But I still don’t think it was intentional. He just dunked right over him pure and simple.

Let’s not try to minimize it. Bosh got faced.

by Jack Frost on Nov 29, 2009 1:39 PM MST up reply actions

No, sir.

I’m not saying he intentionally kicked him down south, but he definitely intentionally kicked his leg out. There’s no reason for his leg to be extended like that except to buy him space.

And the circle under the hoop only applies to position when deciding charges/blocks. Pushing off with one’s arm (twice) and kicking out is a foul anywhere on the court.

Contributor: Bright Side of the Sun Twitter: @MikeLisboa

by Mike Lisboa on Nov 29, 2009 1:39 PM MST up reply actions

I saw the knee/kick, but when did he push off?

I remember a drive to the basket and a flush. Did the push come on Bosh or on another defender?

by Jack Frost on Nov 29, 2009 1:41 PM MST up reply actions

the problem wasn't the dunk

it was the posing after that his teammates should have responded to

Blogging Suns Basketball . twitter: @phoenixstan

by Seth Pollack on Nov 29, 2009 1:45 PM MST up reply actions

Both.

He has a minor push off on his defender at the free throw line and then puts is arm across Bosh’s chest/neck in mid-air.

They didn’t call it, so you know, Bosh got posterized. I’m not saying Pierce wouldn’t have embarrassed Bosh without committing those fouls, just saying that if Kobe made that same play on STAT, it would be a day that lived in infamy and held up as an obvious sign that officials hate the Suns. Just giving Bosh a fair shake.

Contributor: Bright Side of the Sun Twitter: @MikeLisboa

by Mike Lisboa on Nov 29, 2009 1:46 PM MST up reply actions

How did Kobe come into this discussion?

I’m not saying Pierce is a saint. I’m know that like most scorers he’s skilled at making space for himself etc. And I agree that the posing was bush league, but regardless, Bosh DID get faced. I also agree that his teammates should have come to his defense. We are in agreement on that point.

by Jack Frost on Nov 29, 2009 1:50 PM MST up reply actions

Where we disagree

You say Bosh got faced. I say he got hosed. Fair enough?

I only brought in the Kobe-Amare comparison to point out that if the unis had been different, that play would be viewed very differently.

He needs this

Maybe this could be the game where he finds his rhythm. He has looked rather sketchy.

Somebody on here said it, but I dont remember who. He’s doing his thing, its just not being noticed as much. I think thats because we’re used to him in the desperate times. His 3s always seemed like clutch 3s. His blurring lay-ups always came at the end of a fast-break. Now he’s just doing it like a normal player.

On pace to hit that buck again

Having at least 100 in every game says a lot about how efficient our offense is. When some games end with scores like 78-86 or whatever, we get business taken care of.

by KnowGood on Nov 29, 2009 12:11 PM MST reply actions

Doesn't an 86-76 game make a team's defense look pretty good?

I’m still not buying into the whole defense thing right now. I think it’s got a lot more to do with pace than anything else. Not to mention that NO team can play shut down D all game long. It comes when it matters, in runs, just like an offensive spurt.

Fanaticism is not logical

by SunDolphin on Nov 29, 2009 12:15 PM MST up reply actions

Its def pace

Because we’re quick, we get more shots off…and making them certainly helps. When it comes to D, everyone can do what they can to hustle and know the places to position themselves. But when it comes down to it, what are we really looking for from D? The best defensive team will hold their opponent to absolute zero. Surely not happening.

fun first half even though we cooled off

Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. YEAH!

for the win!

however: Nash had 16 assits. great! (of course it is just another simple working day in Nashville) but: the rest of the team had a total of 6. SIX! that just plain sucks. I understand it’s the system and that J-Rich, Hill and Amare can all create their own shots… but this seems too low. and game after game, the situation is similar, I had my eye on this for a while now. shouldn’t this be a cause for concern?

A Win is a Win

I’m not too concerned just yet. I would think Dragic, Hill, and Richardson should be chipping in 5. I would also think if Amare is getting doubled, he should be hitting th open man for 3-4 assists a game.
