Anybody see Brent Barry ripping on John Schuhmann for his NBA.com power rankings?
Mostly because the Suns were #1 on his list?
Not that I necessarily agree with them being #1, but i’m sure he would have been ok with it if the Spurs and their 2-3 record were in the top 5 instead.

Frye needs to watch out
he cant get too comfy with that 3. He’ll start to depend on it and it’ll really hurt the days it dont work. He needs to play more inside. Right now, everyone knows he’s going to be out there. Teams are going to play him based on that. He needs to focus more on the paint and the glass than the arc.
I got it
4th season in a row. I was strongly considering not getting it, but after one game without it and sitting in here reading and posting…I had to get it.
Rodney Carney is one of the fastest players in the league?
Why does every team think they have the fastest player in the league? It seems like every team we play, the other teams announcers like to compare one of their players to Barbosa as far as speed.
Can't decide
Are the Suns being too hesitant to push the ball or is Philly’s transition D that good?
It's the Channing coaster.
I think we’re supposed to enjoy the ride or something.

I like the guy and I like parts of his game bu I don’t like when players think they don’t have to go inside anymore because they hit a few 3 a few games back.
If you’re dry from outside, go inside.
I hear you.
I decided and accepted during preseason that he is going to drive me completely nuts on a game to game basis. Its making things easier.

Have to credit the Philly D
They’re picking pockets, cutting off passing lanes and denying the paint. Jumpers aren’t falling for the Suns, hence the ugly start.
By the way, now might be a good time for Alvin Gentry to come up with some kind of back-to-back offense the Suns can go to to help the old guys.
Now this is just getting kind of ugly.
Already 4 turnovers for Nash.
http://seasonsofdiscontent.com/
JRich is the only reason we're in the game
I dont like saying that, cause I’m not big on the dude. But really, if his 3s werent dropping, we’d be dropping.
Well kinda say the letdown coming
I know it’s only halftime, but this just had the feel of a letdown game. Still happy with the road trip overall though.
"Yeah I could have been king, but maybe I already am king. Hail to the king baby." Ash from Army of Darkness
cant knock the trip
we did say we expected to come home 3-2. We just expected those losses to come from Orlando and Boston. Beating Boston shouldnt be an excuse to lose this one. We should be winning this game.
Dudes need to spend the half taking a quick nap or something.
A list of things to do for the second half:
Deny Philly penetration.
Hustle. Hustle. Hustle.
Go more to J-Rich.
Go more to Grant.
But like Turamba says, we’re disappointed because we’re 3-2 on this trip rather than 4-1. I never thought that would have happened, so overall I’m still happy.
It’s been a great start to the season.
Relax
We’re only down by 12…. I’m sure AG will make the necessary adjustments during halftime :D……..
Whats up doc?
Came in at the end of the 1st quarter
Thoughts:
1) On both ends, the Suns look a step slow…
2) …unless Nash is finding them for an easy bucket. 9 first half dimes is not too shabby…
3) … unless paired with 4 turnovers. I’ll take it though.
4) Philly is simply on fire. I’m hoping those jumpers don’t continue to fall…
5) …and the Suns defensive effort picks up. Can’t just give away open looks.
I have a feeling Gentry is going to give a “2nd game of back-to-backs are no excuse” halftime speech. Because 8 games in, the Suns need to decide if this is how it’s going to be or if they can find a way to get crafty and gut these games out.
I’m still confident that Philly won’t continue to shoot the lights out in the 2nd half. They’ll start missing jumpers, so we’ve gotta force them to take more and drive less.
Oh and the thing none of us have mentioned- Amare. He needs to step it up in a big way.
ah....reality
Haven’t seen more than a couple of minutes so far as I transition from office to car to home.
Lets see if another come back is in order or if the Suns just pack it in and think of getting home

We’re asking the team to bounce back in the second half of the second night of a back to back?
hmmmm….

thats a good way to come out from halftime
the old guys must’ve taken a nap. :-p
Until spring training starts - let's go Cardinals and Suns!
They passed around the prune juice in the locker room….

Amar'e gets a slight pass from me
The back-to-backs are probably harder on him than the old guys. They at least didn’t have a few months where they couldn’t train at all.
More on Amar'e
The hesitation at the elbow bothers me a little, but the pause and re-group method helped him get a couple of nice deuces in the paint just now. He’s thinking more.
Disagree
He should have shot as soon as he received the ball instead of hesitating. Of course, then he goes and bombs away and misses. But he should have the green light until his shot falls off (49% this season).
Whoa!
I take my eyes off my laptop for 10 mins (am in a damn meeting!) and its a 3-5 point game!
Yeah but you're right
If he gets it, shoot immediately, but if he has to hesitate to get better looks he’s better off passing back to Nash…
Whats up doc?
I like the way Amare is battling for boards
should have been a jump ball with Smith before the Iggy 3.
YES.
As an LA resident, I miss Brand. He made the Clips legit. Kinda why I’m excited for Blake Griffin.
Way to fight our way back in it..
Our D has to step it up in the 4th if we’re gonna pull this one out.
This is what i like seeing
The Suns turn up the heat in the second half and make a game of things. Shouldn’t surprise me, but it kind of does compared to last year’s Suns.

Nice come back

Clutch deuce by Amar'e
… to beat the shot clock. Can’t believe they just gave continuation on that foul there, though.
The commentary asked
If Amundson and Dudley could keep up with the rest Suns? Then said, with Nash, anyone can. Huh, guess he never saw the Celts game. The bench did it even without Nash.
Dragic/Amar'e P'N'R
If they’re going to put Amar’e in with the second line, this needs to be worked on in practice. Dragic is a big enough offensive threat to make this very potent weapon.
take a look at +/-
our starters winning theirs, their benck killing ours… which is a good sign, we just need to keep it close for starters…
STUDLEY!!!!!!

Is it too much to ask for an NBA professional player to knock down a friggin free throw???

no he’s having a great game, obviously, but missed FT’s are unforgivable.

BOOM!
I’m diggin the 3s fellas, but I want some more cutting so we can score in the paint some more too.
As long as Lou Williams is shooting we don’t need to get a stop….

damn
the feed i was watching stopped working. perfect timing, now i don’t get to see the end of this game.. grr.
Let’s go Suns!
Until spring training starts - let's go Cardinals and Suns!
That was a nice try by Amar'e
…to draw the charge. Foot was in the circle and he was still sliding, but smart play.
Beautiful pass from Nash
But then again, how many times do we say that anyway? ;)
nash knocked down two FT’s, Lou williams made a bucket and 1.
Suns up by 4 (maybe 3 if he hits)
19 seconds to go

GO SUNS!!!!!
Incredible road trip!
"Yeah I could have been king, but maybe I already am king. Hail to the king baby." Ash from Army of Darkness
Not the best game..
Bobcats boys, Jared and JRich kept us in it. Not to mention Nash and his 20pts and 21ast. Amare only had 6 rebounds but looked like his was really putting effort in on the boards.
All in all.. GREAT ROAD TRIP!!!! 4-1! Who could have imagined!
115 is too much
let’s just not make it a habbit…
great game by dude, what a steal he was… kerr is a genius hahaha
7-1 whoo-whoo… just keep it going..
AMAZING GAME
Suns showed amazing heart
Tonights game against the Sixers is a game that the Phoenix Suns of last year would have found a way to lose – NOT THIS YEAR!!!! This year we are different – something special!!
They say "don't swim with the sharks", but I'm faster than sharks so it's not a big deal...
side note
has anyone noticed the new nba box thingy trying to make it look like the nfl game thing
AG continues to impress
he left hill on the bench in final minutes… he felt that dude is hot and he only got hotter…
Bobcats trade = Genius
Dudleys 3s and Jrich clutch rebound won us that game. Watching that young 76ers reminded me of the suns of yester-years, scoring hot in the beginning just to give it up in end. I hope that suns are a thing of the past. Suns played a lot of heart tonight, hope we can sustain.
still amped from tonights game.
MW2
just got my copy here in england its immense
MechWarrior 2 was released AGES ago….
damn i’m old.

Just realized that the Lakers are getting a 3-day rest to face us, while we play the Hornets the day before, having to travel afterwards. We didn’t even have a 2-day rest so far.
I know it's a B2B, but...
No Gasol, no Bynum, Fisher’s rubbish, i think we’re going to match up quite well against LA.

WOOOT!
Love it. 7-1!
I’m enjoying this for what it is. 7-1. Not thinking ahead at all right now.
Fanaticism is not logical
Great Win!
AWESOME game by Nash — 21pts and dropped 20 dimes !!
I’ve been a Suns fan for about 7 years but am new to the site….
Hope to get to know the regulars.
hey jack!
I thought i recognized you from halosheaven. I guess we have to have something to do during the offseason, eh? :-p
Go Suns!
Until spring training starts - let's go Cardinals and Suns!
we need to play consistent throughout the whole game
so they’ll stop scaring me with these comback wins…
with consistency throughout the game we are dangerous
Schuhmann has us as number 1.
Who would have thought we would be #1 in the Power Rankings two weeks into the season? Now, we are considered, “The Team to Beat” by many people’s standards.
Damnit!
This scares me. We are already getting media attention, and way too soon in my opinion. I thought we were going to have the luxury of being a dark horse this season. These guys have been playing great flying under the radar, and the fickle media is warming up to us way way way too soon. Number 1 in the Power Rankings? Does Schuhmann really think we are a contender?? Whoa, whoa, whoa, lets slow down a minute. I don’t want anybody setting their expectations too high. I still do not think we can hang with the heavyweights. Especially in a 7 game series. I don’t want our boys feeling too much pressure.
I will be at the Suns/Lakers Game this Thursday. I might get my ass kicked if the Suns pull this one out…Gasol and Bynum will both most likely be in uniform for this game. This game is going to be a true test….and a very hard game to win…we better be on fire.
Goods points DaMax
It will be a very difficulty game — and more so than normal since the Lakers will be sitting on three days rest and we will be coming off a game the night before with the quick, elusive Hornets. The dam NBA league office did that to us last year too if I remember right (the first away game against Lakers was 2nd half of back to back games).
I am thinking about writing a post about what I expect strategically in Thursday’s game. Of course, we as fans definitely will not overlook the Hornets.
I didn't even realize we have New Orleans on Wednesday!
What kind of schedule is that?? Another back-to-back?! I figured after our east coast road trip we would have two days off before LA.
I agree man...I love being under the radar!
Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." Amare Stoudemire, when asked to comment on a 22-point third quarter against the Kings, said, "I've got a tendency to jump over some guys' heads and throw it down."
Question is
Will bad teams play us harder because we appear average and they can smell a win, or will bad teams play us harder because they think we’re the Lakers and want the challenge? Or will bad teams simply fold because they think they know they don’t have a chance because people are hot on us and we’re hot on ourselves?
Don’t have to worry about the good teams. The Lakers, Heat, Celtics, Magic are going to play us hard no matter what our record is or what others say about us. When we play the Lakers, I think we’d get their best game whether we’re 82-0 or 0-82.
Fanaticism is not logical
Great win!
The Suns are playing so well, they got me to stop lurking on BSotS and actually post a comment!
thanks
hope to hear more from ya
