power rankings - suns #1!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well...here's the link

Link to nba.com power rankings

I'm not saying the Suns are the best team in the league...but wow!!...this has been a beautiful week for suns fans!! I can't remember seeing the bench be so helpful, I can't remember being excited about some rebounds or defensive plays...plus seeing Nash play like we know he can...it really says a lot about players and chemistry...I honestly believe Nash could've been playing this well last year...but the team makeup wasn't there. But add Dudley and JRich playing some incredible ball...man!!..this is just simply awesome!! And to think Amare and Barbosa aren't at their best yet...and lopez is out..If Lopez can make people change their opinion of him like dragic has been doing...

Bottom line...I'm not expecting a win against the Lakers coming up...but for the first time in 2+ years...I'm not expecting a loss either....if only they hadnt been able to add artest...sickening...just think of these four players...bryant...gasol...bynum...artest..seriously...all 4 are clearly all star level players...and I hate the lakers...more than the spurs...with effort and fast play and great shooting like the suns are showing...this is looking great!! Go Suns!!

hmmmm

I don’t like being ranked number 1…let the Lakers, Magic, Celts, and whoever else that is deemed the sexy team of the NBA take that honor…I like quietly beating all these clowns…GO SUNS!!!

it won't last

I agree…I prefer the underdog out of the spotlight role…if i was a fan of the celtics or lakers…I wouldn’t be saying that…but this team…underdog fits them….

Forget about the ranking…I have…I think what I’m so excited about…as so many devoted suns fans are…is that I believe in them again…I mean I’ve been a Suns fan for 25 years…but it runs hot and cold…and the team was starting to get a little cold……

Not complaining…we still are very lucky to have them…it’s just the possibility of a title was fading little by little…this team has a chance…I wouldn’t have said that 3 weeks ago!

Plus they’re fun…I personally enjoy watching a team with less talent…but a better team beat a team that’s loaded in talent…but don’t play as a great team…

4 All Stars

4 All Stars on the same team doesn’t mean anything. Just ask the Lakers team with Karl Malone, Gary Payton, Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant who lost to the Detriot Pistons.

Team chemistry is important as well. Chemistry meaning knowing your role and your team mates roles and playing together as a team, trusting your team mates. Last year when we had none and we couldn’t win much, now we got it all (chemistry) and are refusing to lose so far.

Kobe's fault

Malone and Payton were not all stars that year. The reason that team lost was not because of the four all stars, but because of Kobe. He learned that year that he needed to devekop some chemistry with teammates if he ever wanted to win another title.

hmmm...good point...

I’d add something…that in the past I’ve always thought of all stars at a much higher level than non all star players…not so sure about that anymore…I’d say a team with good chemistry and hard, hungry players can accomplish anything…if anything…too many all star players can be a real problem…as Hawk said below…I think of joe johnson on the suns with an already loaded all star lineup of amare, marion (the ghost), and Nash and how getting the group to play unselfishly together is a very tough task…That’s the biggest difference in Jordan’s team, Magic’s team, Bird’s team and Kobe’s team….The first 3 teams had chemistry, Kobe’s team has been off and on…mostly off…because of him.

Jordan

You need a couple All-Stars and then “super Role players” to be an elite team, that’s the usual formula. The Bulls were Jordan and Pippens team with role players like Horace Grant, Rodman or Bill Freakin Wennington playing solid roles and everyone buying into the team concept. Last year, the lakers it was Kobe and Pau show with Odom accepting as 6th man and Fish, Ariza etc as the role players.

These Suns of ours so far has everyone is buying into the team concept – the team really seems to be Nash’s team. Amare hasn’t been acting out, almost performing as a role player. Jrich has taken over in scoring the last few games, letting the game come to him, not forcing shots or anything. LB, Dudley, Frye always seem to be shooting the lights out. Grant Hill has been a rebounding machine. Good stuff!

RP

My point was a team needs a couple stars and guys who fill out roles. Wennington, a 13th man on most teams, fit right in there because he.. well I guess he fouled a lot or something. He did his role and it was enough for those Bulls. Stars and Role Players buying into the team is what is needed. If you have a bunch of stars that don’t fit into the team concept you ain’t gonna win like those Lakers with GP, Malone, Kobe and Shaq. Watching the Suns play Washington the other day, it seemed to me that while the team has a lot of individual talent (agent zero, caron butler, andray blatche, haywood, etc) they dont mesh well together at all so they are probably looking at missing the playoffs again this year unless they get their act together on the same sheet of music which does not seem likely.

lakers vs suns

You sun fans don’t get it. The Suns are way out of their league playing the Lakers. I’ve been a Laker fan since Jerry West played and this is the best Lakers team I have ever seen. Even better than the Magic era. I know the Suns were tired but the Lakers didn’t even have the 2nd best player on the team playing (Gasol). Barring injuries, no one will beat the lakers in the playoffs. Not even Boston who have already told everyone they are the team to beat. You guys beat them. Congrats. I’m retired and live in Utah now and I get so sick of the Jazz fans BS. At least you guys have a title!!

Back 2 Backs

Back to back teams vs well rested teams have a HUGE impact on what the team can bring to the table.

Proof? LA v Denver the night after playing the Suns.

The suns are a run and gun team, on the second night of a back to back the team is tired, that takes the run out of the game, and our whole system suffers dramatically. That’s why the only 2 games we have lost have been back to backs.

No title for Suns

Oh I forgot that the Suns lost twice in the finals. 93 lost 4-2 to the Bulls and the 76 finals 4-2 to the Celtics. What can you say. You ran into 2 very strong brick walls!

titles

If I were a Suns fan I would probably shoot myself. What does it feel like having no TITLES. The Suns have had some very good teams. The Vanarnsdale twins era and the Barkley era! I guess I know how it feels being a Rams fan. A super bowl loss to the steelers. Thats it. because the Rams left leaving a big void in L.A. Then they win a title when they are in St. Louis. All of this really sucks! so I feel your pain!!

Don't worry about him.

He’s just got to do something to avoid road rage on the LA freeways. His therapist probably suggested dissing Suns fans or throwing cream pies at celebrity events.

Yeah, right

And the Lakers are way out of their league playing the Nuggets and Mavericks. Sheesh. Tell him to go watch USC football. Better yet, have him root for the LA NFL team. (Isn’t that the Trojans?)

suns vs. lakers

I don’t hate the suns like most of you suns fans hate the lakers, but how can you hate a team that’s never won a title! If the suns had 15 titles like the lakers I would hate them too!

by jdcrosier on Nov 15, 2009 3:45 PM MST reply actions   0 recs

No, we don't hate the Lakers

just the fans – they remind me of Dallas Cowboy fans

You guys are real brain surgeons.

Come playoff time, we’ll see who is over matched. It won’t be the lakers. I know how the suns and nuggets can win a title. Go play in the CBA morons!

duh

I thought this was a basketball forum. I know why you bring up USC. Because there’s is nothing you can say bad about the lakers except childish insults!

DUH

Nuggets Mavericks. No Pau Gausol plus no one steps it up in the playoffs like the Lakers and Celtics. Why do you think they have 32 titles between them?

by jdcrosier on Nov 15, 2009 3:56 PM MST reply actions   0 recs

over matched

OK I’ll eat my words about no one is in the same league as the Lakers. I think the Lakers took houston to lightly, Losing to dallas and houston should bring the Lakers down some. I don’t think Artest knows the triangle yet. If Artest can learn it and the Lakers get Gasol back they will be tough to beat. Look what happened to the celtics last year. No Garnett. But injuries are a part of the game!!

shoot myself

Title, It’s a little bit early to shoot myself, but the way the lakers are playing I better go load my gun

The Van Arnsdales

I remember the Van arnsdales. Tom and Dick. I think Dick was with the Knicks for 2 or 3 years before going to the Suns. Did you know that Tom played 929 games without playing one single playoff game. They were a pretty good team back then. When they had Barkley the Lakers were rebuilding. They made the playoffs, played the Lakers with Eddie Jones, Eldon Cambell and Nick Van exel. I don’t remember what year it was but in a best of 5 series, they had the suns down 2-0. I couldn’t believe it. But then the Suns swept the last 3 games. That was a pretty good Suns team! I still follow the Rams. Yea they finally won a superbowl but lost to new england in 03. now I suffer because the Rams are like the Clippers done 3 times over!
