Marion "just wants to win": Annoying to anyone else?

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/stories/121409dnspomavslede.31820b4.html

"...We're asking him to do some things that he probably hasn't been asked to do by the other teams he's been with. He's been very willing to just roll with whatever we send his way, because he wants to win."

Am I the only one finds statements like that annoying? I mean, come on, he could've won if he stayed here!

I had the same thought when I read that but I guess everyone should have the chance to mature a bit

Agreed.

I think the past couple years after leaving Phoenix have been humbling for him. He was on very talented teams for 3 or 4 straight years, perennial championship contenders, and he went prima donna on us.

Now that he realizes that it’s harder to win when you’re not playing with MVSteve, I think he’s matured/realized that if he continued to demand to be “the guy”, his chances at being on a winning team were slim to none.

Marion

In retrospect, I wish we would have traded Shawn in 05 and given JJ his money. Unfortunately, our owner was new and green.

Ever wonder what the team would be like if Jerry still ran the team?

Not Sarver's fault

There are things that are his fault, but BC still had the reins and made that call.

It is Sarver's fault

Because he was the boss, he could have gotten rid of him. Who do you tink was writing the checks?

What angers me the most

Is Marion shooting down the Celtics trade. From what I’ve heard, Boston agreed to send KG here for Marion and the Hawks pick we had. But he wanted to go to a better team. So he ended up on Miami. I still haven’t forgiven him for that

where did you hear that?

I’m not trying to be an ass, but do you have a link or source?

by Chucko on Dec 17, 2009 5:29 PM MST up reply actions

i'd heard about that also

a spinoff of that…I heard the suns looked into trading amare to the celtics in a 3 way deal to get kg….but the celtics weren’t interested in amare….my guess is …most of the league knows amare wasn’t a sharp guy..

but…for what it’s worth…I’m very excited about amare so far, this year. He really has grown mentally, he seems happier out there as well. My wife said last night while watching the portland game that she never recalls seeing amare smile and at ease so much…
that’s a really good thing

on marion…it’s really simple…be glad he’s gone. some sources kind of pointed the finger at amare being part of the “friction” that pushed marion aside….I think it was purely marion’s ego…sad thing…if he couldve kept quite and kept working hard “as he mostly did”…he would’ve gotten paid much better than he has anywhere else.

at the time…i was for keeping marion and shipping amare away….thank god that didn’t happen…did anyone else laugh uncontrollably after seeing marion jackup his ugly shot during a game vs the suns recently….and miss…and miss again…lol!!!

Marion is a great finisher at the rim with the right style (fast break) and right guard behind him. Plus he is a tremendous defender…gets thin fast after that.

He played LeBron as well as I've seen anyone in the Dallas game
