Kerr: Go get Randolph!
According to Yahoo's Adrian's Wojnarowski, Anthony Randolph is being shopped:

"Warriors’ Randolph on block again
For two seasons, the Warriors have had an odd time with Anthony Randolph(notes). Sometimes, they’re in love with his sheer athletic ability in that 7-foot frame and considered him untouchable. As a rookie, they dangled him in deals, too. Well, it’s happening again. Several NBA teams say Golden State officials have offered Randolph in trade discussions, but as one Eastern Conference executive said: “I think all of their roster could be had.”
Says one Western official: “The Warriors are willing to do anything and everything.”
Randolph is 20 years old and blessed with terrific talent, but his staying power and maturity have frustrated Golden State officials. It appears they’re willing to cash his potential for more mature assets. After destroying the summer league in Vegas, Randolph has averaged 11.1 points in 21.8 minutes per night for the Warriors.
Even with his patriarch, Keith Smart, substituting for an ill Don Nelson, Randolph’s productivity hasn’t improved. Still, he’s so young, so gifted, it’s a move that would come with a great deal of long-term risk."
I personally hope Kerr has been on the phone today, trying to pry Randolph away from the Warriors now that he's no longer untouchable. Despite Kerr's earlier quote that he doesn't see any trades occurring before the deadline, I think this would be a nice move for the long-term future of the team. Perhaps Randolph/Ellis/another piece for Stoudemire?

I wholeheartedly agree
First time post on this blog, but I just had to chime in regarding my man, A-Randolph. Nellie doesn’t seem to like him—he doesn’t seem to like Nellie. Amare’s ego has reached a new zenith while his production has been iffy at best. At the beginning of the season, I was apprehensive, to say the least, when it came to trading Stat, but now I think it would be best for the Suns to get his lazy a** out of the state. While Randolph is, admittedly, rather unpolished at this point, can you imagine the future potential both he and, let’s say, Andris Biedrins would bring us? (Well, maybe not Biedrins—but its a start!) Maybe would could even swing Ellis, as the above poster mentioned, if we threw GS their old favorite, J-Rich, as well? While I want to see the Suns do well this season, especially without our first pick, everyone and their Grandmother knows we can’t win a championship this year. Why not start the rebuilding early and get some decent pieces for the upcoming years? I will cap this off in saying, Randolph excites the basketball fan in me more than almost anything other young player in the league. If I were a GM, I would make sure that I grabbed him while I could and developed him properly.
Why don't we just trade teams!? That would work... right guys?!
You know – just give all of our players to the warriors and take all of theirs – or maybe we could just trade jerseys! That should do the trick!
They say "don't swim with the sharks", but I'm faster than sharks so it's not a big deal...
Are you serious?
You cant be serious. For one, Hill is one of our best defenders. We need that on a team of scorers. For two, Amare is having a BEAST of a season defensively and is playing some of the smartest most aggressive ball of his career on that end. When the second half of the season comes and he opens it up watch out. Dont be ignorant. Trading Amare for anything less that 1.3+ on the dollar is plain stupid.
Go read a book!
SERIOUSLY.
If Kerr wants to do something to win me over and finally call him a good GM, he’ll land us Randolph.
Bright Side of the Sun, where Suns basketball never looked so good.
Though...not for any major pieces.
And, just for the record, I’ve never thought Kerr was a bad GM. Just not…great.

Not for any major pieces?
Maybe its just my personal disgust with Grant Hill’s over-the-hill-ness and Amare’s lack of effort that makes me want a huge change, but, if we’re sticking to smaller pieces, what could we swing him for? A combination of Barbosa and other bench players? Not sure of the salary situation… I really like Dudley, Dragic, and Amundson, and I wouldn’t want to see them go. No matter—the wings would be absolutely ill if we could get A-Randolph and give him consistent minutes!
oh man
i wish…

We can also give you Curry, Morrow and Ellis + Azubuike for a pretty cheerleader!!!
If Randolph is given away for anything it must be a major piece and you just don’t have any. Stoudemire is so bad I wouldn’t give you Wright for him. Can’t rebound, play D which are the most important things for PF.
No thanks,…NEXT
Think before you post
name a PF that can guare amare one on one

You wouldn't give up Wright for Amare?
Are you joking me?
Yeah, a 28 point, 14 rebound, 3 steal game, while matching up with the best PF in the history of the game is just terrible.
Absolutely terrible.

Not sure.
I just want to see Amare beast out the rest of his “Max Contract” year, and let him walk and take the cap space.
I think if we can somehow get them to take Alando, Collins, and maybe Clark for Randolph and change, I would do it. I really like Clark, but I think given both of their upsides, they’re pretty close.

Find another player with the contributions we get from Grant Hill for 3 mil a year. Plus he is the 4th oldest player in the league still making 20 somethings look stupid. I bet he has one of if not the highest production per dollar amount in the league. You must be watching different games then I am. Plus there is no way to factor in his leadership and locker room presence, that just adds to the value.

Keer put The Big Roadblock in Pheonix
Then gave him away for nothing. In other words, he traded Shawn Marion for nothing, although you could say the space was given to Frye

Whoa I meant Kerr
Keer is fun to type though

How About This Year?
Not bad so far. Who gets credit for extending Nash, landing Frye, Picking up Hill for another year? Wouldn’t that be Kerr?
Not saying that makes him a good GM, but you gotta give the guy a little credit for what we are seeing this year.
The media thought the Suns would be garbage this season. Many of us were highly skeptical. Of course the season isn’t even half over, but I think we have a quality team right now.

Of course ...
Kerr DID also have a hand in creating the scenario in which the media would think the Suns would be garbage this season.
Don't get me wrong, though.
Kerr has done a great job realizing he made some mistakes and rectifying them. This is the most excited I’ve been about the Suns in a handful of seasons.
Oh, totally.
I’m not saying he’s a bad GM. I actually was never really on the “I Hate Steve Kerr” bandwagon when Shaq was in town…I’m just sayin’, if he could land us Randolph while managing to not give up any major pieces to our team…
That would be amazing.

He's going to have to give up a major piece, I would think.
Since Randolph is a big part of the Warriors’ future core. But the Suns need to rebuild and the Warriors need to bring some excitement, so I think a deal that centers around Randolph and Stoudemire is a good idea.
Amare wouldn't do it
If we traded him at the break, all GS would get is a half season. They wouuldn’t resign him. Are they that stupid?
April 29, 2008 Total Eclipse of the Sun. Is the sky falling?
Are they that stupid?
as a GS fan, my first reaction was to simply type “no” but the fact that I had to pause and think about our FO previous decisions scared me… Re Amare, I don’t think we’d’ve dealt for him last summer without an extension, and now without having the playoffs or an extension to hope for there really isn’t a reason to think he’d factor in any deal – nor should he considering where Phx is with him right now. … Seeing AR play with a PG like Nash would be entertaining though, can imagine AR lighting up a scoreboard in Phx-type situation
I bet something could be worked out with barbosa and Claxton's expiring
the question is though, do we want to do anything?
I’m loving the team at the moment, and meddling could do much more harm than good
Depending on how bad Golden State wants to move him...
this might work…Granted, it would probably have to be a S. Jackson type of situation for this to work…But if they just want to go useless expiring contract and promising young talent for…well useless expirinf contract for promising young talent…
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yzqj9oh
I know, I’m crazy…Just wish we had some sort of draft pick to put with it…
Buky, I don’t know how many “major pieces” your going to get for this kid…He has talent, no doubt, but he isn’t quite there yet…Also, I hope you weren’t implying that you are mere pieces away from any kind of a decent team…
So Minnesota should have traded Garnett back in the day just because he wasn't there yet?
Compare the stats(Randolph&Garnett) and you will notice that Randolph is a beast in progress. Amare is on the downside of his career and if he plays without Nash his numbers would drop for sure. Randolph is as now by FAR better player defensively and you and I know D wins games.
If only our FO and coaches could have any clue how to handle this kid.
WOW
Are you a Suns fan? Are you a basketball fan? I am honestly confused, do you want the Suns to give away their most talented young player for ANTHONY RANDOLPH. AMARE STOUDEMIRE. FOR ANTHONY RANDOLPH.

I have no idea what your talking about..
First of all your boy and Front Office are why we are even having this discussion…We didn’t put him on the block…I also think it’s a little early to be comparing him to the likes of the 6’12 Kevin Garnett…Sorry man, but you need to think with your brain not your heart which is hard as a fan I know…Randolph is not going to land you anyone in the same breath as Amare Stoudemire…And to say Amare is on the downside of his career is just plain….um…misinformed to keep it pleasant…You have to understand when YOUR the one shopping your own player then you automatically lose some leverage…Also, deserved or not, Golden State is getting a reputation like the 90’s Blazers character-wise…I’m not saying he is a bad kid, but at 20 years old we shouldn’t be hearing anything about him and the locker room…So at best your looking at bringing back 1 or 2 of the following 3 things…1)another young prmising plater-not likely to get the same talent thouth which brings us to…2)Draft picks….or 3)An expiring contract…In all liklihood I predict you land an expiring contract and a draft pick or two…There will never be a “majot piece” in the equation…Sorry…He has tremendous upside but hasn’t had the chance to produce enough to warrant a “major piece”…you should be overjoyed if the Suns come offering Amare for Randolph, which is just ridiculous….One more thing…Our Suns, according to the world, can’t play defense at all….I think we might have won a few games though…How’s that “D” working out over there in Oakland?….yeah thats what I thought….
Well....
It appears I have quite a few typos in that post, but I think you get the point. Also, I see that I really need to work on paragraphs and such. It’s a little hard to follow with the dotdotdot method I seem to love.
nice job

ok. i know stats don’t tell the whole story particularly defensively, but i think they tell a more accurate one than what you’re trying to push on us. this season while anthony randolph plays PF his opponent averages:
FGA Efg% fta ifg reb ast t/o blk pf pts per
PF 18.9 0.647 15.0 52% 12.8 1.7 2.2 2.2 5.0 35.6 30.1
opponents against amare:
PF 17.7 0.477 4.4 30% 10.3 2.6 2.2 1.1 4.8 20.2 15.7
im not saying that amare is a top defender by any means, but to say that randolph is far better defensively is a little off i would say. keep in mind that amare plays more of his minutes against starting caliber post while randolph will play against the other teams’ scrubs occasionally…

But actually
I would refer yo to http://popcornmachine.net – Amare plays C a fair amount of time in our system.
They say "don't swim with the sharks", but I'm faster than sharks so it's not a big deal...
Richardson
I would send Jrich back to the dubs for Randolph anhs Azzybooke
April 29, 2008 Total Eclipse of the Sun. Is the sky falling?
Why is everyone still hating on JRich?
Is it his contract?…He is playing the best ball he’s played since coming to Phoenix…He’s doing the role player thing very well…And when he has it going, he has the skill set to do just about everything…I just don’t get it…Is he better than Raja Bell?…Yes. And it’s not even close…I just do not understand it…
I'm with you Stud
the JRich disdain at times is thick – I think it is his contract that makes people hate on him – JUST LIKE AMARE. The excuse everyone always gives for hating on Amare is that because ‘he talks’ about max contract money they feel obligated to point out every single little flaw in every single part of his game/life. Amare is still a beast – he progresses constantly – and you couldn’t name more than 3 PF in the West that are better than him. It’s all about the benjamins and not about basketball.
They say "don't swim with the sharks", but I'm faster than sharks so it's not a big deal...
I think Richardson is great.
He’s definitely buying into his role under Gentry very well, and is a very solid insurance in case Nash goes down (I pray that never, ever happens). We all know he can score, and when he’s on his game, he can average 23/5/5. Not too shabby. Not even close to what Steve Nash does for this team, but if Nash goes down with some freak ankle injury, Rich might be able to keep us sane while he’s gone.

His BBIQ is incredibly low, and it costs us on the court. Poor shot selection, poor handles.
Poor contract.
Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." Amare Stoudemire, when asked to comment on a 22-point third quarter against the Kings, said, "I've got a tendency to jump over some guys' heads and throw it down."
No way
However, I’d advocate sending over a boatload of the draft picks that the Suns have stockpiled for Randolph.

Randolph
I’d like to see Randolph in a Suns uniform. And I want him as the starting Small Forward to Amare’s PF. Then we might actually move up from near last in the league in rebounds.
Randolph
can flat out ball but he’s got a long way to go before becoming a basketball player
I worry about his attitude as well and demeanor. He’s only 20 and has a ton of upside potential but he is no sure thing.
I would take Curry over Randolph if I had my choice.
But I don’t think there’s going to be any trade involving the Suns and Warriors btw
Blogging Suns Basketball . twitter: @phoenixstan
that I would do in a heart beat
I doubt the Warrior would…but I wonder if they would take Robin and Clark for Randolph. Hmmm

I'm digging your thinking...
Lopez and Clark would be well worth him…In my opinion…Maybe it’s because I haven’t actually watched him play all year and I’m basing what I say on what I’ve read, but at 11 and 6 and only getting 20 something minutes a game, I think that would be a fantastic trade…
I've been tracking him all year.
He’s one of my favorite young players…unfortunately, he’s stuck on the Dubs.
From what I’ve seen, he’s athletic as all get out (that’s a given), he can score in bunches, and he can be a pest on defense. Those are the pros.
The cons I’ve seen with Randolph is him occasionally looking disinterested and lackadaisical on defense (remind you of a certain Sun from years past?), but I think that’s due to Nellie’s madness and his inconsistent playing time more than anything. I’ve also seen him make some pretty boneheaded plays, which would say to me that his basketball IQ isn’t exactly off the charts.
But, put him around Nash, who understands the game almost better than anyone, and some of it is bound to wear off on him.
All in all, he’s a really, really interesting player, and I agree with Stan on this point:
Randolph can flat out ball but he’s got a long way to go before becoming a basketball player

I think it's more like
One potential all-star for one potential all-star and one scrub. I really do think Clark has a chance to be great, and it’s really almost a wash. Clark and Randolph are both the same type of player, but Randolph is a bit more polished.
Agreed.
Clark has the all the tools to fit will in a run and gun type team like the Suns or Warriors. He’s shown that he can shoot the ball well (something Nellie really likes, big men who can shoot), and he’s shown, in his limited minutes, that he can be effective.
He’ll make mistakes, sure…but every player makes mistakes. And, GS is playing Randolph out of position because Biedrins is out. For some reason, they think he’s a center, which he’s not. He’s a PF through and through. But, taking Lopez would help fill that backup C spot (because really, Mikki Moore should not be a legitimate option at C, let alone starting).
I think most people count Lopez out, but I think he could eventually put it together and be a very serviceable backup or an unattractive, yet efficient starter.
Clark, on the other hand, I could see him being Shawn Marion-esque, with a better shooting touch.

Lopez..
Is it just the hair or can anyone else see him growing into an Andeson Varajao type player? I’ve NEVER seen Lopez have the kind of motor Varajao has, but I think he could become a contributor on the glass cleaning up the garbage like Varajao does. Again, maybe it’s just the hair. I just feel like “scrub” is a little strong at this point. I wouldn’t mind seeing some more discussion on him though.
Exactly.
I don’t want to quote myself, but I will…haha.
I think most people count Lopez out, but I think he could eventually put it together and be a very serviceable backup or an unattractive, yet efficient starter.
Not that he’s ugly (even though he’s not exactly a good looking guy), but he’s not the flashy type of player everyone in the league is enamored with. He’ll never be a Dwight Howard type player. What he is is a back-to-the-basket, “I’ll block your shot or try to take off your arm in the process” type player. So, if he can harness his inner crazy, keep himself under control, and become more consistent on the defensive end, yeah…I can see him starting. But there are a lot of "if"s.
